The cottage is situated in the tiny hamlet of Blendworth in the South Downs National Park, between Horndean and Rowlands Castle. Converted to high quality modern standard and beautifully maintained, it is fully equipped for self-catering. The vaulted living space gives it a stunning wow factor! We leave a hamper of basics and fresh flowers to welcome our guests and get them started. It has its own terrace with fragrant herb-filled raised borders.and faces a charming sunny courtyard with a walnut tree and a vine-clad pergola with a large table and chairs for alfresco dining. There is spectacular walking on the South Downs Way and some of the best cycling on and off road straight from the doorstep! A private tennis court within the property is available by arrangement with the owners.

Fabulous setting on a quiet rural area. The cottage is nestled in a courtyard with other buildings, but no other holiday makers!
The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful and the cottage has everything provided including a very generous welcome basket of local goodies.

Thanks for such a super review... we loved having you all here, and were very impressed with your totally cool response to the drama of the wasps nest! See you all again soon I hope. Xally x
We stayed at Lavender Cottage in July 2020. We picked it based on a good location and nice looking photos. The reality was even better with good access to a variety of things to do nearby and the property and grounds were even better than we expected with a wonderful garden.
Sally was an excellent host and the little touches like the welcome basket were the cherry on the cake.

Thank you so much for such a great review. Come and stay again sometime soon, you’d all be most welcome! Sally
There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival and the house was clean and extremely well presented with flowers in the rooms all of which made us feel special and welcome. Sally and her husband are perfect hosts and the renovation that they have undertaken at Lavender Cottage is excellent. The cottage is only a short distance from the A3 on the edge of a lovely village which makes it great for exploring both Hampshire and West Sussex. There is a lovely garden to explore with tennis court and a patio next to the cottage. It’s a perfect place for any length of holiday.

a must stay in a lovely peaceful cottage
we were warmly welcomed into the cottage our host were the sweetest people ever. I highly recommend this cottage but if traveling from the USA please bring a Europe maps addition to your GPS as the cottage is not easy to find but well worth the stay. our gps took us right to it with no issues and well worth the Europe map update. nice peaceful town not far away and great grocery store within 8 mins away. we spend time at the Portsmouth dockyard and that was about 30 mins away. can't say enough about the cottage extremely clean and fresh. beds very comfortable

Lavender Cottage has everything you could want or need. It is charmingly decorated and has a wonderful soaking tub after a nice day’s walking in the area. The hosts were extremely accommodating. I’ve been traveling around the UK for 14 years and this was one of the nicest places I’ve found. I’d highly recommend!
Absolutely perfect in every aspect. Beautiful decor, perfect location and hosts. Some lovely touches including fresh flowers and hamper upon arrival. Access to tennis court and gardens. 5 ⭐️
A lovely cottage, very well equipped and beautifully presented. Sally is an excellent owner / host. The booking process and subsequent comms were excellent.
Cottage is very well situated, being a 15 minute walk from Horndean, and for those walking the South Downs Way, really well placed for the westerly sections.
Beautifully presented, well equipped and a luxurious welcoming hamper just added to the lovely location and even nicer hosts
Could not recommend more whole heartedly
Everything about this place is fantastic- Richard and Sally are lovely welcoming hosts - the place is decked out with top quality stuff right down to the towels (Hugo boss!). The location is fantastic and caters for everyone wether you want to be busy or just relax. The garden to the rear is brilliant and we are now croquets addicts !! All in all brilliant experience and will definitely go back if Sally and Richard will have us

Really enjoyed staying here. The owners were so very welcoming and provided all that we could have asked of them. The cottage is fantastic, and great location. We found loads to do that we and the kids enjoyed.
The property is beautiful, very well equipped and the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. In particular, they let us leave our bikes secured in a garage that we could access, which was very much appreciated. The location is great for visiting local attractions and the grounds are extensive and beautiful. We had a lovely time.

About the host
Hosted by Sally Lang
Sally and Richard live in the adjacent converted barn having sold the farmhouse a couple of years ago after nearly 40 years. We converted this old farm building (originally a foaling box) into an enchanting holiday cottage in 2015. Since then we have had 5 star reviews from everyone who has stayed here. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of Hampshire so you can discover for yourself how wonderful it is!
Why they chose this property
We love this tranquil rural location. It is near the coast and yet so close to Chichester, Portsmouth, Winchester, Petersfield and all the sporting and cultural activities that take place in this part of the country. There is masses to see and do for all tastes and times of the year! We are only an hour from London, so also ideal for a long weekend break.
What makes this property unique
You could spend a cosy winter weekend walking and curled up reading by the fire, or in the summer you could explore local beaches and watersports. You could play golf at one of half a dozen spectacular courses. There is fabulous scenery and walking on the South Downs Way. There are some of the most beautiful cycle routes on and off road right from our doorstep. You could bring your paints and find some stunning subject matter in the landscape, or you could go birdwatching in Pagham and Chichester Harbour. You could check out the local historical sites, or visit modern art galleries and sculpture parks or gardens in Chichester and Winchester.
There is so much to do locally, that it is impossible to list it all here. We have created a 'house book' which is full of ideas of places to go, and things to do.
There are lots of local pubs and restaurants too if you don't want to cook!
