Our condo was excellent. It has been remodeled and all appliances are top of the line. Enjoyed our private hot tub and as always Silver Sands Raquet Club is a very quiet relaxing place to stay. Any questions we had were promptly addressed by the owner. A one page instruction sheet on how to operate the pool and hot tub would have been helpful. Not hard to operate but was a learning process. Hope to stay again!
What a unique comfortable vacation condo. Nicely decorated. This place is set up perfectly for a vacation rental. From the kitchens simplicity to the private patio with wading pool and jacuzzi. This is a quiet private get away with all the amenities of home.
Well worth the money. Would highly recommend this Hidden Gem.
Nice Modern Property. Pool and Spa was falling apart. Has a yard that is enclosed.
Initially impressed on arrival. Interior was completely redone in black and white with lots of glass, mirrors and mirror finish floors. I had read the prior review and thought pool, spa issues would be fixed. NOT!
No poolman for 8 days out of a 3+ week stay. Pool area had 2 feet of leaves and old bottles behind the gates of the equipment area. Looked like a trash can area for the pool man.
I called Clarence who had just left on a 2 week vacation out of the country.
I decided to clean out the pool area with shovels and a 15 gallon trash can.
I FILLED THE CAN TO THE TOP AND PACKED IT IN! I hosed the pool equipment area out and let it dry. There was a hose in the pool upon our arrival and the water was on at a fast trickle. During our stay, I found out the pool has a bad leak and would lose 3 feet of water a day. The hose had to always be on and monitored. The spa was also leaking as well. The motor had a leak as well as two pipes and the filter was loose as well. The air bleeder on top of the filter would not shut off completely and constantly hissed and sputtered water every time the pump was on. I had to initially hook up the vacuum after my initial clean out and create the suction as the system was full of air and not working. I then cleaned the pool and spa so we could use it during our stay. The heater needed service as well. I ended up being the live in pool man to keep his system from burning out. The real pool man showed up on a Monday after being on vacation for a week and told me they were going to install an auto fill for the pool. He was not aware of our arrival and he had conflicting information than what we were told by Clarence.
The home inside was very well appointed. Everything was recently remodeled and if you like black and white modern design that needed constant cleaning, this place is for you. Overall, Clarence was difficult to reach, none of the issues were taken care of before we left and we never did reach Clarence during our stay! Needless to say, I felt ripped off and never did really get to enjoy my time there. We needed another week as our house was not ready to move in and when I called Clarence, he had rented the property out again to someone else knowing the problems with the property!
This is one place I would stay away from! It’s too bad I can’t post photos here as I have plenty and a picture is worth a thousand words! I wish HomeAway would call me. They too are impossible to reach by phone! STAY AWAY!
Home updated but still needs work
On plus side: Silver Sands is a lovely community, centrally located between Palm Springs and La Quinta), great for any who want to play 3.0-3.5 tennis, lots of players and events (Chili cookoff; Weds. social; Men/Womens Day/Can-Am tourney) including an on-staff Pro who will help get you involved. Home has upgraded floors and bathrooms. Spacious kitchen with plenty of space, cookware, tools, flat- and glass-ware. Comfortable furnishings in living room; nice TV's in all bedrooms.
Negatives: no fitted sheets, hot-tub wasn't working and took more than a week to repair (clean filter); patio chairs worn and threadbare; wobbly dining chairs; no ceiling fans in bedrooms so only cooling was by loud A/C thru the night; kitchen knives dull; no light bed covering, only heavy winter comforter; lousy pillows (fortunately we had our own); faucets in both bathrooms spray off sink and douse you with water while using; no shower curtain when we arrived - owner provided after we requested it. Most of these negatives were minor in themselves but together lessened our enjoyment of the home. Approached on several of these (and other) issues, owner was generally easy to contact but his follow-through and follow-up on issues was lacking.
This condominium has been remodeled from top to bottom. I only buy fitted sheet sets in which the bottom sheet is fitted, and the top sheet is a flat sheet. I pay a pool service (two days each week) to clean and maintain the pool and spa. If there are any repairs need they complete the repairs and send me the bill. The patio has a total of eight seats on the outside patio and six seats on the inside patio. I inspected the chairs and one has a small rip which is frayed. I rented to a couple (two) people so there were plenty of places to sit and enjoy the outside weather and view. There was a total of six dining room chairs, one of which had a loose leg which was tightened. Once again there were only two people in the house so there were plenty of places to sit at the dining room table. True there are no ceiling fans in the condo by choice, however, there is a Dyson bladeless fan sitting in the Livingroom that can be moved anywhere to move air if desired. The condo is equipped with central heat and air also. There are several sets of knives in the kitchen, one of which is a designer titanium set that I found to be very sharp. Each bed is made with a duvet, light blanket and top sheet. Depending on the weather or personal comfort choice, the duvet can be turned down, thus sleeping with just the light blanket and the sheet or duvet and blanket can be turned down and sleep with just the top sheet. There are also extra sheets for each bed. The pillows are regular pillows (medium firm). I do recommend if you have special preferences its best to bring your own. Faucets and sinks are new and if they splash water, turn down the volume. The master bathroom has a spa tube and no shower curtain by design. The concept was to leave the space open, so you could enjoy a relaxing bath without being confined. There is a large walk-in shower in the other bathroom. I did have a shower curtain installed for this guest. All issues that were brought to my attention were address within 24 – 48 hours depending on the workers schedule.
Clean and convenient
We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. The home was lovely, immaculate and exactly as the photos reflected. The owner was quick to respond and easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the desert.
