Second time here
One of the loveliest places we have ever stayed.
We loved everything about the cottage--it is full of light and the setting couldn't be lovelier. The cottage has an open floor plan in which everything flows naturally, and all the furniture is extremely comfortable. We could have happily relaxed all day in the cottage and several timeshad to force ourselves to leave for our day trips :-). The kitchen is easy to work in, and the adjoining laundry room has an extra fridge and lots of extra space.
If you're interested in Civil War battlefields (as we are), you'll find that Antietam and Harpers Ferry and very close by, and both Gettysburg and Manassas can be each be reached in about an hour.
Kelly gave us a warm and helpful introduction to the cottage, and we also enjoyed chatting several times with Phil about the history of the property and the area.
We travel a great deal and are pretty fussy about where we stay. This was, in every way, one of our favorite spots and we plan to return.
A top-notch country-setting B&B!!
Highly, highly recommend The Cottage at Dunthorpe Farm for those seeking to step away from the daily grind to an idyllic setting. Surrounded by farm fields and rolling hills, the cottage is located on the well-maintained Dunthorpe Farm and its owners, Kelly and Phil, could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Their restored cottage, a former barn, is absolutely beautiful, with its old-world charm, detailed woodwork, and amenities, along with its finer touches, such as the quaint breakfast bar, active hummingbird feeder, delicious scones and fresh fruit in the morning, and interior décor, make this the perfect place to relax and unwind. There is much to do in the area for those who are so inclined, such as hiking, small town shopping, visiting the many local wineries & breweries, and eating at the locally-owned restaurants. We could not have been happier with our stay – this is a top-notch country-setting B&B!!
Fabulous in every way! Beautiful pastoral setting with all activities nearby. 5 stars all the way
Idyllic from start to end. Owners considered and anticipated every single need. Quiet restful and relaxing enjoyed our evenings around the fire pit with bottle of local wine looking forward to a return in the spring. Truely amazing vrbo experience

We look forward to your return visit!

Everything we imagined!!
My wife and I spent our honeymoon here. The accommodations were so private for our time together- our hosts, Phil and Kelly, are very pleasant people!! Breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. We are already looking forward to going back in the future. Location of property was secluded, but close within 20 minute drives to sightseeing and shopping.
The Cottage at Dunthorpe Farm is nestled against the Blue Ridge Mountains within the burgeoning Virginia wine and brewery industry and in the heart of Virginia horse country. History abounds with Harpers Ferry, Antietam, Manassas battle fields and many other historic sites a short drive away.
Other attractions include the Outdoor Adventure Center in Harpers Ferry, WV and hiking on the Appalachian trail. Nearby Leesburg offers an outlet mall, and an historic downtown that includes The Marshall House and Morven Park. Charles Town casino, event center and racetrack to the west, and Middleburg's locally owned shops, dining and the equestrian and hunting museum to our south are less than a half our drive.
