About this property
Secluded Family-Friendly Home
Located just 2.5 hours from NYC and Boston, this Cape-style post and beam house is perched on top of a hill with wide open views of rolling fields, a neighboring pond, and endless trees. It’s perfectly situated between the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, home to cultural gems such as Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow (a world-renowned dance performance center), Mass MoCA, The Clark Art Institute, and Shakespeare & Company, to name a few. The towns of Chatham, Hudson, Stockbridge, Pittsfield, Lenox, and Great Barrington are all just a short drive away.
Winter visitors will appreciate close proximity to Jiminy Peak, Catamount, Bousquet and Butternut ski areas, which are all within 30-35 minutes of the house. Our property also has a great hill for sledding! Summer visitors will enjoy swimming at the family friendly members-only beach on Queechy Lake or hiking the trails in the Schorr Conservation Area (adjacent to our property) or climbing the fire tower in Beebe Hill State Forest for 360-degree views.
Located in the hamlet of East Chatham, NY (Columbia County) just minutes from the Massachusetts border, the house is just 10 minutes from the village of Chatham - an 1800s town with its historic main street of restaurants, restored 1920s movie theater, cheese shop, yoga studio, independent bookstore, and knitting store.
The house is 10 minutes away from a terrific 24-hour grocery store, food co-op with local/organic products, and a few different farm stores with incredible year-round produce, meat, and the best apple cider donuts anywhere!
House Description
The cedar-shingled house is 2,100 sq. feet with an attached 2-car garage and covered breezeway (great for loading/unloading the car when it's raining or snowing). The open-plan main floor is made up of a fully-stocked kitchen w/ comfortable den-like seating area, half bath with full sized washer and dryer, pantry, windowed dining room overlooking the grassy backyard and woods, and a living room with fireplace--stocked with board games and toys for school-aged kids. The spacious deck is perfect for stargazing through our telescope or cooking outside on the Akorn Kamado grill.
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms are located upstairs:
Bedroom 1: Master bedroom has a King bed with Casper memory foam mattress and an en suite full bath with combined bathtub and shower
Bedroom 2: Queen bed with Tempurpedic mattress
Bedroom 3: Two Twin beds (kids will enjoy the small library of children’s books and cozy reading nook tucked away in the corner closet!)
Another full bathroom with combined bathtub + shower is located in the upstairs hallway.
We also provide a toddler pack 'n play and two twin air mattresses if you require additional sleeping space.
Families with children are welcome. NO SMOKING AND NO PETS ALLOWED- OWNERS ARE ALLERGIC
