Our guests say it is a GLYURT - Glorius YURT - Off the Grid - but RIGHT ON!
Why Tom Howe chose Cedaredge
The owners operate this property as the family's big game hunting headquarters the last two weeks of October every year. Hunters travel in literally from border to border, coast to coast each year to savor about 10 days off the grid and into western Colorado Rocky Mountain splendor. The rest of the year (from mid March to early December we make our unique property available to others that want solitude, quiet, a teeny bit of roughing it, a limited amount of networking and just plain relaxation.

This property went beyond our expectations. The view is stunning. Waking up, going out on the deck, enjoying a cup of coffee with the sun on your face. It's truly an experience I want to revisit.
The check in process was flawless. George met us at the gate to show us in. He went over everything we needed to know about the yurt for our stay. He called us after a couple of days to make sure we had enough water. He wanted to make sure we had everything that we needed.
If you desire tranquility and relaxation I definitely recommend this place.
Best quiet getaway my family has ever had!
*Tom and George are just so so nice, and the Yurt was AMAZING. I LOVED the 2 acres of fenced in space so my dogs could run and not get into trouble. It was secluded, quiet, with huge trees and so close to so many day activities. It rained quite a bit while we were there and we still loved every minute, playing board games with the charming sound of rain on the Yurt roof, while we stayed dry and warm. We were impressed with how many comforts this place had to offer for being a Yurt. My whole family was sad to leave. We absolutely plan on going back again!
Teri - We're so pleased you enjoyed your quiet getaway at our unique spot in the western Colorado Pinons and Junipers. And we're pleased your dogs loved their freedom too (hopefully they didn't get into too much trouble.)
You and your family are another great example of why we do not have to charge our guests a cleaning fee or hold a damage deposit. It is our way of making efforts to keep our rates as low as possible. We really do appreciate your leaving the property as clean as you did. You are great guests!
Of course, we'd love to have you and your family (dogs too) return for another stay in the future. Thanks for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed your time at The YURT at Screwball Ranch.
Glamping In Style

One of Your Hosts
We enjoyed everything about the Yurt. Perfectly appointed and the fenced area for the dog was an added bonus. Wood stove kept us warm, amazing view off the porch along with the privacy was just what we needed. Our hosts were awesome and took great care of us. We loved our time here and can't wait to come back.
Our last guests of the 2018 season had to brave early winter weather but seemed to enjoy the quiet solitude enhanced by western Colorado's fall closing in on winter. Now we'll prepare The YURT at Screwball Ranch for winter and plan the new additions and preparations for our 2019 spring opening in late March / early April. We hope to see Jennifer back soon.
We had a great time. Beautiful view and the yurt was like fancy camping. Would totally recommend to others.
I sent you a separate email telling you how if possible I would give you 10 stars!
We count on guests like you to allow us to not charge a damage deposit or cleaning fee. All our VRBO guests have left our unique spot in the Western Colorado Pinons and Junipers clean and organized upon departure, but you set a new standard - at least worth double the five-star rating.
Thanks for your consideration and we're pleased you enjoyed your stay. You are certainly welcome back any time!!
Convenient, Yet Off the Grid
Thanks guys for a great stay at The Yurt; you took very good care of us. The Yurt at Screwball Ranch is close enough to town to be convenient, yet secluded enough to give you that great “off-the-grid” feeling. One of the biggest perks for us was that we could let our beagles roam the property on their own. The fence gave them a huge area to roam without the possibility of getting lost; which made our life simpler while at The Yurt. We recommend The Yurt to everyone.
Yep, your beagles aren't the first dogs to rave about The YURT at Screwball Ranch's security perimeter that allows them to roam freely when their owners are busy doing something else or have gone to town to by more dog food. ...and all those smells - Ils sont magnifiques!
The YURT at Screwball Ranch loves pets - and pets love The YURT at Screwball Ranch.
We're pleased you humans enjoyed your time "off-the-grid" but still with most of the amenities of easy living. Thanks for trying our unique spot in the western Colorado Pinons and Junipers.
Quiet, private solitude is foremost at The YURT at Screwball Ranch but still only minutes away from Grand Mesa the largest flat top mountain in the world covered with over 300 lakes at 11,000 feet above sea level.
Only 15 minutes W to Cedaredge, Colorado - the gateway to Grand Mesa with restaurants, shops, groceries, gas, Pioneer Village, golf and friendly folks. Travel another 20 minutes SW to Delta, Colorado at the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers with many more colorful restaurants, bars, hospital, movies, Walmart, Safeway, City Market, and local shops to serve your shopping needs.
Travel another 35 miles south (through Montrose, CO - 22 miles) to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park - Wow!
Or go 40 miles NW from Delta to Grand Junction, CO at the junction of the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers. Just west is Colorado National Monument. Grand Junction is the largest community on Colorado's western slope (west of the Continental Divide) and the business and commerce hub for the western third of the state. Museums, fine dining, theaters, etc. all there in Grand Junction.
You can mountain bike, hike, horseback ride, ride ATV's or snowmobiles right from the steps of The YURT at Screwball Ranch over the many wooded trails on your private 80 acres or go further through our private access to adjoining Bureau of Land Management (BLM) public lands where there are miles and miles of established trails (ATVs restricted to established trails only.)
You'll probably see Elk, Deer, Cyotes, and maybe even a Fox, Bear or Mountain Lion. The bears and mountain lions are very polite, respectful and normally stay to themselves and have never bothered any of our guests.
We're completely pet friendly - bring whatever you have. We have corrals and loafing / tack shed for equine guests (mules and donkeys and zebras included) and a large area surrounding the YURT, parking area, picnic area , fire pit , horseshoe pit, corrals, loafing shed, etc. is fenced with security fencing that will allow you to leave your pets (probably not cats) secured in the enclosed 2 acres while you golf, fish, ski, hike, bike, etc. without worry that the pets will wander away in your absence. Just make sure all the gates are closed!
Life is good!
