We stayed in early March when it was still quite cool. It was really comfortable with a stunning view out across the sea to the Aeolian Islands. As there are no cooking facilities and it was early season, so many restaurants weren't open we opted to eat in most evenings. The food was prepared by our hosts and was delicious. The basic meal is filling, and the larger meal is huge - the choice was 15Euro or 25 Euro - both were excellent value - if you have th 25E one every noght you may gain a few pounds! Fresh produce and mostly home-made with wine and an after-dinner digestive - chilled, strong and with a choice of flavours (including chilli!). We liked the tangerine and the licquorice-&-mint. You need to tell them in advance if you wish to eat in. Your food is brought up to your house - in the summer it would probably be nice outside - but not in early March!
Also breakfast was provided with coffee, tea, fresh apple juice, yoghurts etc.
There is a lovely seating area outside with the views and you are surrounded by lovely orchards, birds singing and flowers (in March).
The owners are really into self-sufficiency, energy efficiency and being green. We found that really interesting. You will be told how it all works, electricity, water etc. - if you don't get it at first - just ask and Antonio will explain it. I suppose some people might prefer everything as at home, but we loved it - it all worked perfectly, hot shower, espresso machine, fridge. Antonio was always on call if you needed anything.
There is space to park your car nearby, although it's a steep and winding road up to the site, though without much traffic.
It is hard to see how we could have been made more welcome by a lovely family.
