About this property

Entire 2-Bedroom House. Walkable to city centre

Welcome to our traditional cottage. Recently redecorated and comfortably furnished, it is located just off pretty Clifton Green with its independent tea & cake shop, butcher, supermarket and chemist. Only 5 minutes walk to the river and 15 minutes walk from Bootham Bar (city gate) with its cobbled streets, range of historic pubs and shops, and the famous York Minster.

There is on-street parking in front of the house. We can arrange on-street parking permits for you from the council at £7 per day. Or there is free parking just two minutes' walk from the house.

About our house:
- Full of period features including original fireplaces.
- Furnished extremely comfortably, with good-sized beds.
- Separate living room with two sofas, flatscreen TV, DVD player, books and games.
- Separate dining room with dedicated work / desk area.
- Pretty courtyard garden that is a sun trap in the afternoon and evening.
- Fully equipped kitchen with all the utensils, crockery, glasses, pots and pans you'll ever need (we think!) as well as a kettle, toaster, microwave and other amenities.
- Bathroom toiletries, towels, bed linen etc all provided.
- Free unlimited WIFI throughout the house.

The neighbourhood:
- Clifton Green is a very pretty piece of parkland, surrounded by some beautiful houses and amenities - including a supermarket (open 7am to 11pm), an independent butcher, a beautiful independent coffee and cake shop, a Boots chemist, pubs and so much more!
- It is a very peaceful area, yet is only a pleasant 10-15 minute walk down a road lined with historic buildings before you are at the city walls and gate. Here you can find St Mary's Abbey and Museum Gardens, a cobbled area lined with historic pubs and shops, and a further 5 minute walk to the famous (and rather impressive) York Minster.
- Alternatively, it is less than 5 minutes walk from our home to the River Ouse - you can walk along the river bank into town (a stunning walk on a beautiful day or evening).

House was fine for our stay, nice touch by the owner to leave milk & biscuits on our arrival. 10-15 minute walk to the Bootham end of the city walls. All in all house was a fine base for a weekend in York.

Lovely cosy property close to city centre
We found the property very easily and the off road free parking round the corner, thanks to very good directions. The house was perfect for us. It was very clean and well equipped. The bed was super comfy and nice big TV. It was just a ten minute walk into the City Centre in a straight line - couldn't be easier. Little Spar on the corner for essentials and newspapers in the morning. Nice pub just over the road. After a busy day trekking round York we found the cottage very comfy to come home to. Thank you very much.

Lovely stay in York
We really enjoyed York and Stuart's place was perfect for us. Cozy yet updated. Little extras were appreciated (and eaten/drank!). Enjoyed having the small courtyard out back for coffee each morning. We had a rented car, so had been a bit concerned about finding a spot to park with the parking rules in York. We didn't have any issues, though, parking a block down in some free spaces next to the Old Grey Mare pub on Compton as Stuart had suggested. He also said he would get us a pass if we had needed it, so all bases were covered. It's about a 3/4 mile walk to the gates of town, but very pleasant street to amble to/from town after a day of sightseeing. There is a small breakfast/lunch place, a sweets shop, and the pub at the end of the street if you don't head into town. Only wish we had another day or two to explore the area. York was great. We will be back.

Good location
On line listing was accurate. The house is a 15 minute walk from the centre of York, also easy to get to the station via the footbridge. Handy local shops. House was well equipped.
