Dolly Plum Cottage is a detached former agricultural building that has been converted into a delightful 1 bed cottage and is ideally situated to explore the many attractions located in this beautiful part of Kent. Just off the beaten track but with quick and easy access to the main road and motorway Standing in its own grounds the front door leads to a bright living area with a bathroom off to the front and a modern well equipped kitchen to the rear, overlooking the large private garden. A narrow wooden staircase leads to the double bed on a mezzanine level - please note this sleeping area is not therefore suitable for those with mobility issues. There is also a double bed settee in the living area. Off road parking is available next to the cottage and patio furniture and BBQ are available. Only a few steps from the front door is the first of many footpaths that will lead you into the Weald of Kent or if you prefer to venture further afield, EuroTunnel & Ferry Ports are only a short drive away for a day trip to France not forgetting that it’s just a 40min train journey from Ashford station to London. Pet friendly. Please inquire before booking if you wish to bring your pet. Welcome basket on arrival All of the energy/heating supplied to the cottage is electric. Due to the huge increases in Electric charges we have introduced a fair usage policy to cover excessive use of heating and electric vehicle charging. Upon your arrival and departure a meter reading will be taken, a £15 per day allowance will be given which should cover most people's needs. Anything above this will need to be paid at departure or deducted from any deposit.

It was a cute, charming almost eccentric little place. It had everything we needed, plus we were quite lucky with the weather. Even our little dog seemed to love it there and looked forward to visiting the resident chickens. All in all it was what we had hoped for. We would be happy to stay there again in the future.
The property is uninhabitable - beware of fake reviews! The property was filthy with black mould in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as large spider nests and giant spiders. The bathroom was mouldy with strands of long black hair in the shower, the shower head was covered in limescale and grime, the water was either freezing cold or burning hot, the cheap lino floor was bubbling up, and there was significant damage to floors and walls throughout the property (large holes in both walls and floors). The property was not as advertised and the bedroom was inaccessible. The listing incorrectly states that there is a stair case to the bedroom. This is in fact a step ladder where the depth of each step is only a few centimetres. I do not have mobility issues but climbing this step ladder was not safe for me as I am pregnant and so I couldn’t access the room. We complained to vrbo who attempted to arrange alternative accommodation but this was not possible within the time frame so I unsuccessfully tried to sleep on an uncomfortable 1cm thick futon. When we complained to the host, we were met with rude and dismissive comments. The host also hadn’t made up the master bedroom so there was also no bedding in the master bedroom on the first night so my husband had to sleep without bedding in cold conditions. Vrbo are in the process of investigating this property to get us a full refund. Absolute nightmare - avoid at all costs!!
We spent a relaxing week at Dolly Plum Cottage. Our dog enjoyed running around in the large garden. Mark was a warm host and greeted us with ice cream. We were also able to try the house's own honey. The house is beautifully situated for excursions and not far from the sea.
Beautiful cottage that has everything you’re looking for
We had a wonderful couple of days in the cottage. It’s super spacious, very neat and equipped with everything you need. There are lots of animals in the neighbourhood which our child enjoyed greatly. Mark was a wonderful host and very responsive. We especially enjoyed the chickens and the garden.
Mark and Gill have a lovely cottage full of character. Mark was welcoming and showed us around, he was mindful that we had a toddler with us and explained how to use the facilities. He was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is amazing within short distance to Safari, beach and nearby towns. There is place to play that my toddler loved to kick his football around. We had an amazing break thank you
We stayed for three nights and only left the cottage for walks. It had all we needed for a bolt hole and time out. Stairs a bit steep, but manageable. Will likely return on a regular basis. Thank you for the welcome pack.
It was our second time round staying at the Dolly Plum cottage. We came because we sought a place to wind down, and for the scenery and surroundings.
Ashford and Folkstone are a little drive away, through green hills and pastures.
Mark, the owner, is a very kind and friendly person, generous in sharing produce from his own hobbies and businesses.
We will definitely be coming back again next summer.
A little extra fun: There is an Alexa device present at the cottage. My spouse and I enjoyed battling for the command of music.

Absolutely not as described. The bedroom is tiny my husband couldnt even stand up in it. There was an electric blanket on the bed in the middle of summer with a hard control box which would have made it very uncomfortable to sleep on. I had asked to sleep downstairs on the sofa bed which was old torn and a filthy mattress cover on it. Had very little sleep at all as so uncomfortable so we told the owner we werent happy to stay the following three nights. We got a very small refund from him and vrbo. Considering they asked for over a 100 a night the accommodation was extremely poor. I cant understand how this place has such good reviews and certainly not to be recommended. Extremely disappointing
Es war ein super Urlaub, das Cottage war sauber und gemütlich, der Gastgeber Marc war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir würden jederzeit gerne wieder kommen.
We were very happy to stay at this lovely cottage. Mark welcomed us warmly and he showed us the cottage and the beautiful big garden and his chickens. The cottage is located in a quiet area and is wonderful calm. Our dog loved exploring the garden and felt very good. Our daughters loved to sleep upstairs, it was so cosy. It was the perfect location for us to explore London. Thank you very much for everything Mark and Jill, we had a wonderful time !
Mark gave us a warm welcome, even with a welcome pack with someting to eat and drink. House was tidy and clean, nice stay with good views over the laen on the backside. Recommended!
Luxus darf man keinen erwarten.
Perfect for the 2 of us. We used the grill to cook 2 of our meals and enjoyed one afternoon taking in the surroundings. Not far from Dover and other places in SW England. The hosts were outstanding.work with

Erg comfortabel huisje.

About the host
Hosted by Mark & Gill Potter
We moved to Kent in 2010 following many years serving abroad in the armed forces. We have had a wide variety of pets and welcome all house trained pets with well behaved owners!
Why they chose this property
Just minutes from the main road and good access to the motorway yet in a secluded country position with its own large private garden. We fell in love with the cottage when we were looking for a small plot of land to grow our own produce and keep some chickens.
What makes this property unique
Dolly Plum Cottage is like a tardis – at first sight it appears quite small, but the open beamed ceiling and windows to 3 sides of the lounge makes it feel a lot larger on the inside although retaining its character – the mezzanine bedroom definitely gives it a romantic feel!
