About Sue Lawn
We are Steve & Sue Lawn and moved to France over 11 years ago, for a quieter lifestyle, quitting our jobs as design engineer for Steve and Chef for Sue. Since then we have renovated a 16th Watermill in Brittany, a farmhouse and barn for Chambre d'hote and a gite and then saw this derelict cottage in Pompadour - not quite the quieter lifestyle we had in mind!
Sue Lawn purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Sue Lawn chose Arnac-Pompadour
We were driving past this property 2 years ago and from the road it looked sad and neglected and having been empty for over 15 years it was a home to nesting birds and other various animals. We did however, see it's potential and beneath the ivy saw it's beautiful stonework. The surrounding grounds were a bit of a state having been used as a dumping ground for old farm machinery and various other bits of rubbish but we were certain with a spade and a wheelbarrow and various trips to the local tip that we could transform it.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage dates back some 300 years and now it's been given it's facelift it keeps it's quaint features like the stonework and beams but with the added bonus of modern living (like electricity and running water!). We fell in love with it's history and it's sunny south facing position (the terrace makes excellent use of this). The surrounding neighbourhood is quiet but yet only 3 minutes from a bustling, exciting town. The wildlife is abundant (the rabbits keep eating all my new plants!!) If you want somewhere quiet to relax and unwind then we think this fits the bill.
