About this property

Grade 2 listed 3 bedroomed stone cottage in Dolgellau in Snowdonia National Park

Isfryn House has been very recently renovated to create a comfortable and stylish holiday home whilst still retaining the original features you would expect to find in a 250 year old listed cottage. With two double bedrooms (1 ensuite) and a single bedroom and family bathroom upstairs, there is a large double aspect lounge with wood burning stove and comfortable farmhouse style dining kitchen on the ground floor. Window seats can be found in the lounge and kitchen. A utility room with butler’s sink, washing machine and tumble dryer is at the rear of the property and there is a down stairs cloakroom. The house is pet friendly with steps leading up to an enclosed lawned garden with flower borders with further steps up to a BBQ patio area which is also a great sun trap. A big bonus for a holiday cottage in Dolgellau is the provision of off street parking for up to 2 cars.
Dolgellau is an attractive stone built town in the foothills of Cadair Idris in the south of Snowdonia National Park. Very close to the beautiful Mawddach estuary and 10 miles from the blue flag beach at Barmouth, coast, castles and a whole range of outdoor activities are all on your doorstep.
The town has a great variety of pubs and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of the cottage.

Great week away, lovely cottage in a great location

A great week away, this cottage was a home from home and the furniture is of good quality, great kitchen and garden, parking was ideal. The weather was mostly dry and sunny so made the most of visiting Snowdon and the surrounding area and local beaches. A short stroll to shops, pubs and restaurants. It was dog friendly and walks locally were handy. Definitely recommend the cottage.

Spacious house in great location

Had a very enjoyable stay - house was spacious and well equipped. There was a small safe garden for the dogs - great it accepted 2 dogs and car parking. The hosts were lovely and so helpful. It was in an excellent position for walking into town where there were plenty of places to eat - most dog friendly. Highly recommend - we hope to go back.

Perfectly placed

The title says it, after a tiring day walking or sightseeing, space to unwind, enclosed garden with plenty of privacy, all facilities and appliances you would want. All Dolgellau pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance, we tried them all!

Excellent cottage in a prime position

Just returned home after a marvellous stay in South Snowdonia. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well laid out with a homely feel. Jan and Julie were lovely and offered some good tips for food and sight seeing and kindly had bread, milk and Welsh cakes awaiting us. The area is beautiful and very accessible and we were out every day, cycling or walking either in the mountains or along the coast, we also found excellent local restaurants and pubs. An excellent week and we will return in the future….

Comfortable and characterful cottage

Most comfortable and characterful cottage in the heart of Dolgellau. We have stayed in Isfryn House a number of times in the past but the current owners have sympathetically refurbished it in keeping with the original character with added contemporary comfort. We hope to stay here again many times in the future.

Sehr charmant!

Home from Home!

Lovely warm cosy property, comfortable in all ways. We were here over Christmas 2018 and found it to be perfectly located for the village itself plus local walks and cycle routes. The property owners are also very nice and could not be more helpful , Would recommend!

Very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Owners have provided everything you could need.

Very comfortable and cosy cottage which has been restored to a high standard. It was large enough for a family of five with a dog to stay. It was well equipped to make our stay comfortable.

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a fantastic location.

We loved our stay here. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, cosy and homely. It worked perfectly for a family of four and a dog. Dolgellau is a lovely little town, with everything you need close by (we highly recommend the butcher!). There is so much to do in the surrounding area that we ran out of time even over two weeks and the scenery is breathtaking. Jan and Julie were very welcoming and helpful hosts, leaving us to enjoy our holiday, but always on hand if we had a query. We hope to return.

Perfect amazing cottage

Amazing cottage, recently renovated with great amenities. Jan and Julie were great accommodating owners-willing to help in any way. House was exceptionally clean with beautiful touches such as freshly baked loaf, butter and jam on arrival. Cannot recommend enough! Thanks for a wonderful stay in a beautiful location!

We're Jan and Julie Peggs and we own and run Plas Gwyn bed and breakfast, next door to Isfryn House. We've been here since 2014, leaving behind jobs in teaching and company management to move to this beautiful part of world, to run a bed and breakfast and to spend more time on our passions of horse riding and cycling.

Why they chose this property

In Snowdonia national park, Dolgellau is a great base for outdoor activities. Hill walking up Cadair Idris, road cycling or mountain biking in Coed Y Brenin, coastline and castles and the beautiful Mawddach estuary on your doorstep.
Isfryn is a 200 year old listed stone cottage but renovated and refurbished to a very high standard

What makes this property unique

Off road parking and an enclosed garden is a bit of a find for a cottage in Dolgellau. It's just been fully renovated and very well equipped and is new on the holiday rental market in August 2017
