Morton House Masham and The Stable Block Masham together comprises is a grade II listed stone farmhouse and 18th century Stable Block located just off the market square in the picturesque market town of Masham. Inside Morton House you'll find stone floors, exposed wooden beams, roaring fires and many more charming features which give Morton House its character. Set over three floors, downstairs there are two reception rooms - a formal sitting room with an open fire and a family room with SKY TV and cosy wood burning stove. The large farmhouse style kitchen and dining area is a lovely place to relax with friends and family and cook up a storm on the large 7 burner range cooker. Morton House offers four bedrooms, all upstairs. One Super-King size room, a double and a twin with the large master bedroom in the loft. The master bedroom suite offers a King size bed, dramatic wood beams, an extra single day-bed and an en-suite with a bath. The lounge also features French doors leading out to the private walled patio courtyard with its gas BBQ.

There is a downstairs en suite (shower) bedroom which also enjoys access to the garden via French doors. On sunny days the sunshine pours through the window onto the bed. Upstairs a further two bedrooms (a King size and a small twin) are joined by a further shower room.

This property is well suited to guests with limited mobility but please note we are not fully disabled accessible.

Masham Trip
Went to Masham with friends the village is beautiful, the local pubs Kingshead, Bay Horse we frequented most of our 3 days and the staff were lovely couldn’t do enough for you. Met friendly locals and had a good laugh with the butcher, there’s plenty of local shops bakers, grocery and the cake/sweet shop which one of my friends bought all of the lemon drizzle cakes. We had a tour at The Black Sheep Brewery a must if you go to Masham and food there is excellent. Thank you Michelle, Morton House and Stable are lovely accommodation, close to all amenities in a beautiful village. We will be returning.

50th Birthday Surprise
Absolutely fantastic weekend at Morton House and the stable block. 13 friends celebrating a 50th birthday. Both houses were very spacious, clean and exactly what we needed. Hosts were brilliant, very helpful and informative about the area with a recommendation for food at The White Bear, again outstanding. Would definitely recommend

Top notch house for large groups right in the centre of Masham
Great house for groups. If you take the stable block, that is VERY comfortable and self-contained. The main house has everything we needed for a long weekend. Great social areas and lovely bedrooms. Very close to the main town square with all the shops, pubs and restaurants literally seconds / minutes from your front door. This was our second visit and we'll definitely be back next year!

New Year in Morton House
The three generations of our family, our ages ranging from 1year to 72 years, enjoyed our 14th return visit to Morton House and Stable Block to celebrate the beginning of the new year. We love the period features and cottage feel of the house and the relaxing simplicity of the converted Stable block. The rooms give us space for eating, playing games and relaxing. The outdoor space is great for prams, scooters and walking shoes etc. Michelle and Columb are always the best of hosts and we hope to return next year.

Fantastic Christmas break with room for the whole family
Michelle and Columb were fantastic hosts from the moment we first inquired about staying at Morton House. They proactively provided recommendations based on our party, responded within minutes to any questions and were flexible and understanding of any additional requests. The house was decorated when we arrived which the children loved and we had everything we needed easily to hand throughout our stay. We had an amazing time and would recommend to anyone who wants to have a bigger gathering but doesn't have the space.

Host profile image
Columb and Michelle Reid are now in the 11th year of offering a unique Yorkshire experience to guests from all over the globe. We are passionate about providing our guests with the best in accommodation and activities to make the most of their precious time here in beautiful Yorkshire. Having lived in Masham for over 26 yrs Columb is always on hand to offer up a suggestion for just that something special to see and do. Let us do the planning and booking for you so you can just ‘retreat’ back and relax.

Why they chose this property

This is where the children grew up and has been a family home for over 26 years. The feeling you get just walking inside the front door is calm and enchanting, allowing you to quickly feel very at home and make the place your own. Masham is still a town where people like to say 'good morning' and stop for a bit of a chat, interested where you are from and why you are here - and you get lots of local knowledge from the locals keen to make sure you see it all. It's our little 'bubble' and we love it here. We'd love you to experience our love for Morton House and Masham.

What makes this property unique

The fact that Morton House is Grade II listed, renovated with your comfort in mind and is maintained to high standard all leads to a great stay. The exposed beams and original features throughout gives you a sense to the fact that it is one of the oldest houses in Masham - with an interesting history. The loft beams are said to have come from a ship and the main structure is dated late 16th/early 17th century.
