The gite is in secluded spot in a large meadow with beautiful views. It sits perched on a grassy hilltop with stunning views of the fabulous Gers countryside; vineyards, woodland and rolling hills. You can just sit on the beautiful terrace and chill. It has two double bedrooms - one on the ground floor and one upstairs.
Named for the fabulous views of the milky-way you get from the terrace, Etoile (star) is a calm, quiet and very comfortable stone gite. It sits in a beautiful meadow surrounded by vines, trees and alive with butterflies, birds and red squirrels
With two very comfortable double rooms, it is ideal for four people but it can accommodate up to six as there is a good sofa bed. Just let us know how many are in your group when you are booking so that you have plenty of bedding and towels. We have fully renovated for 2022 and are we’re sure you will love the fresh new look.
We have focused on absolute comfort with super comfy mattresses, crisp, fresh bed linen, fluffy towels and powerful showers. We’ve kept the décor smart and simple. You can make your holiday as chilled or lively as you like. To help you along we provide hammocks, loungers, bbqs and lovely space, inside and out. There’s plenty of room to run around for children and their grown-ups. The L shaped terrace is secluded and ideal for relaxing at any time of the day. There is always a spot for sun and shade. Planting around the gite is not only pretty but makes this a private, shaded space.
Etoile is accessed either by car via a lane alongside the vineyard or by walking through the vineyard from the campsite. We haven’t measured but it’s a lovely 3-5 minute meander. Guests love this as it means they can access the facilities and social life of the campsite but can also have complete privacy and lots of space back at their gite.
The village of Castelnau D'Auzan is a short drive or an easy 15 min walk. It is a very welcoming village where you will find a great bakery, well-stocked grocers, two restaurants/bars, a pharmacy and Post Office. Often guests nip down for bread and croissants and then stop for a coffee, either in the small arcaded square or on the lake. The nearest supermarkets are at Gabarret 8km and Eauze 10km.
It is a fabulous location for exploring this fascinating region of France. The Gers is tucked away in the triangle between, Bordeaux, Toulouse and the Pyrenees. It is rich in history and culture and famous for its gastronomy. It has one of the best climates in France and certainly some of the cleanest air as there is no heavy industry. It has been described as one of the few places left in France where you can experience "old-fashioned frenchness." A place where market days are still big meeting places for locals with plenty of banter and passion for food.
We want all our guests to have a wonderful time and maybe, like us, fall in love with this quirky, amazing region of France. Once discovered, never forgotten.
