About this property

1st flr flat with large balcony & beautiful views

Dormer Venn is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
First floor flat with lovely views opening onto large balcony in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Direct access on foot and bike to beautiful walks and off road trails. Easy travel to London & local business centres. Pretty village with shops & a pub. QiT 4*

In light of current COVID-19 please note that we always deep clean between lets, dismantle and clean the fridge, disinfect switches, handles, doors edges and frames and other high touch points. Once clean the flat is further sanitised using a Bio-Vac machine, as used on Covid wards, to capture and kill air and surface borne pathogens.

Space
Dormer Venn has spacious rooms with new carpets or vinyl/Amtico flooring throughout; beautiful curtains and original artwork give a relaxed, elegant and comfortable atmosphere. Optical fibre broadband and a Heating system with 'nest' thermostat, provide guests with hi-tech controls of their environment. The kitchen is equipped with halogen hob, fan oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer (also line outside), microwave and lots of china and pans.

Guest access
Each flat is private and self-contained. Dormer Venn has a large private balcony off the sitting room, both with lovely views and guests have access to most of the 3 acres of grounds around the house. We keep the top lawn immediately behind the house private and a small area of garden to the side of the house.

Being a first floor flat, accessed by stairs, with a kitchen on two levels, Dormer Venn is not suitable for those with limited mobility. The Garden Flat, our ground floor accommodation, has one step up and intone on one level - see property code HAUK 8471871 for details.

Guest interaction
We respect our guests privacy, but we are always happy to suggest places to eat or visit and recommend walks of varying lengths in the beautiful countryside that surrounds us and are on hand for help or advice if required.

Neighbourhood overview
Westcott nestles in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) between the North Downs and Leith Hill. We are surrounded by excellent bike/horse trails and footpaths. Pretty markets towns of Dorking, Guildford, Reigate and Farnham are between 2 & 24 miles away. There are many National Trust properties and short distance away and some outstanding gardens including Wisley. The commercial centres of London, Crawley & Croydon can be reached in about an hour out of the main rush hour and the coast is about an hour away too.
Getting around
Dorking Main station is 2.5 miles away with regular service to London. Dorking Deepdene is on the line that runs between Redhill and Reading. Gatwick is about 1/2 hour away and Heathrow 45 minutes - traffic permitting. There is a bus service 5 minutes walk away to both Guildford and Dorking and beyond.
Other things to note
There are shops 7 mins walk away that supply almost all usual needs, as well as the excellent Kingfisher farm shop in the next village and Waitrose, Sainsburys and Lidl in Dorking 2 miles away. We are hidden on a country road, but provide detailed directions on how find us and supply a mobile number for any extra help. Our rates vary depending on the time of year which we will discount for bookings of multiple weeks or in quieter periods.

Fantastic, well equipped flat in beautiful location.
Just had a week in this fantastic accommodation. Gave opportunity for walks in lovely countryside, visiting national trust properties and a beautiful place to come back to and relax at the end of each day.

Lovely cottage in beautiful area.
Cottage had everything we wanted, very clean and comfortable. Lovely views over the garden. Great area for seeing the Surrey Hills, within easy reach of Leith Hill, Brroklands museum, Wisley RHS garden and National trust properties. A great stay, thank you!

Excellent holiday in amazing setting.
We really enjoyed our stay at Dormer Venn. The location is superb set amongst beautiful gardens with a great view of the lake. The flat itself was comfortable, clean to a high standard and in the perfect location to explore a wide variety of places in Surrey. The hosts (Louise) were most helpful and we loved meeting Bea the dog who welcomed and said goodbye to us most days including our last day and loved a good fuss! We would highly recommend Dormer Venn to any one we know wanting to visit Surrey and hope one day to visit again.

Lovely little place in Surrey, England
beautiful country location, with a view of a pretty little lake. Paths for walking and not too far from a village.

Comfortable stay
We chose this property because it is near to where family lives. It was perfect for that. We stayed for 2+ weeks and the weather was quite cold and rainy during our stay. Sadly, we couldn't take much advantage of the walking trails in the Surrey area but we were warm and comfortable at the flat. We didn't cook but made breakfast and light dinners; the kitchen, albeit on 2 levels and down stairs, was fine. We did find the parking tricky as we are not used to manual transmission cars. I would advise renting a small car if you are staying here; between the multiple cars that are parked in the area one must park and the narrowness of the area, there is alot of forward and reverse to get out. We had an SUV, the only car available at Hertz when we arrived, and we did have some trouble getting out. A minor inconvenience. Louise was very helpful and prompt with answering our questions. Altogether a lovely stay.

Why they chose this property

The Surrey Hills are especially beautiful and our light filled home is a great location to explore the surrounding countryside, National Trust properties. Both London and the coast can be reached within about an hour out of rush hour.
The large pretty garden overlooking a lake and Ranmore, but within a 10 minute easy walk of the village centre are the reasons we moved here.
