About this property
A unique 300 year old Grade 2 listed property sleeping a MAXIMUM 30 guests.
Eggesford Barton was once the main farm for The Earls of Portsmouth’s Eggesford estate. The house surrounds a large garden courtyard and is full of charm and character with pretty Georgian arched windows, exposed oak beams, original fireplaces and quirky sloping floors. Carefully converted and renovated, the rooms are tastefully furnished in a manner sympathetic to the style of the property and the house readily accommodates up to 30 guests in 13 bedrooms with 10.5 bathrooms.
The house is perfect for large family and friends holidays, special birthdays and celebrations, reunions and hen parties. We have a range of caterers for special occasions and guests are able to eat together in the main dining room which seats up to 30 guests. We also have partners who offer archery and clay shooting, health and beauty treatments, yoga, cookery and flower arranging workshops.
The house is sited in 30 acres of beautiful Devon countryside with Eggesford Forest and the Tarka Trail on the doorstep, spectacular surfing beaches like Croyde and Saunton Sands to the North, Exmoor to the East and Dartmoor to the West. The nearest city is the Exeter, famous for its cathedral and offering a wide range of dining and nightlife.

Margaret was always very quick to reply to any queries I had.
The property is amazing and just perfect as a venue for our walking club. There are 3 wood burning stoves which kept us cozy
We brought pre cooked food to heat up and had caterers on another evening, however, I think there is plenty in the kitchen if you are cooking from scratch.
We would definitely stay there another time.
Perfect location for a joint 50th birthday celebration
The property worked really well for us, lots of character, lovely courtyard area, a games room and a separate grassy area where the kids could play football. Nice walks from the house. Good configuration of bedrooms/bathrooms for our party. We managed to cook evening meals for 27 people all three nights of our stay so we made good use of the large dining room. Unfortunately the car charger is temporarily out of action and the Vrbo listing mentions a hottub which doesn't exist - I believe this is Vrbo's error, not down to the property owner. Margaret was a great host, very helpful and quick to respond to queries. Thank you!
