About this property
Savage Lake Lodge. Waterfront/Waterfalls 3BD/ 2BA Sleeps 10+
The Lodge sits on the peaceful and scenic Savage Lake, gently sloping down to the waters edge and nestled in the Cabinet Mountains, with Savage Falls roaring across the lake. Enjoy your Fishing, Tubing and Skiing on the lake! The lake has motor limitations between the hours of 7pm-10am, insuring a peaceful evening dockside, without the disruptions of passing motorboats and jet skis. There is internet service at the Troy Library (lclibraries). Troy has 2 sit down restaurants, The Silver Spur and a new one on the other side of town. RPlace serves up a good burger and fast food items. There is a grocery store, Red Box and True Value.
The 3bd/2ba Lodge sits on a large lot with 100 feet of waterfront. The next door neighbors on both sides are seldom there, but it is fun to watch one fly his plane on and off the lake. Savage Lake lots were sold in the 1940's by the Savage Family. On 1 side are the original owners of Savage Lake, it was ranched way back in the day. If you get a chance, say hello to the Savage family. The Lodge has large lake facing windows and front deck. The Deck can accompany up to ten+ guests, with BBQ, tables and chairs furnished. The Fire ring is just steps from the lodge with a large dock, with plenty of wood and Smores sticks provided. Unlike some of the nearby waterways there are very few Mosquitoes (Yea) here at Savage Lake. The large dock can accommodate two boats or about four jet skis. I do leave out a few life vests and some water toys, they are in the old boat shed. There are 5 kayaks (2 adult and 3 small adult/ child) on the property for Savage Lake use. Great Large Mouth Bass and Perch fishing at this lake, the kids will have good luck just off the end of the dock for Perch and the Bass. A second 3bd/1ba cabin,( This is listed on VRBO as site number 1503654) is also for rent. This Comfortable 3 bedroom, 1 bath house, walk to the lake with access 1 house away at the boat access. If needed for beds on the property it is available for an additional fee. There is spotty cell phone service, some spots on property come in better than others! Most normal weeks are rented out for the Lodge and is around 1500.00 per week. We consider discounts for longer than 7 days, contact Tom for info on this. Due to higher requests (Including my family) Holiday weeks ( 4th of July, Memorial Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Labor Day are listed for more.)
Moose can often be seen eating in the lilies across the lake. Otter, Ducks, Loons, Osprey, Bald Eagles and White Swans are all common. Watch out for Chipmunks playing in the trees and on the deck, also lots of very majestic deer in the yard. The Lodge is situated in between the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness on the Montana side, and Scapegoat Wilderness on the Idaho side. All sorts of recreational opportunities abound, Lots of Hiking in both wildernesses, with plenty of easy rewarding hikes, with some natural waterfalls. Kootenai Falls, is on the way to Libby with the Kootenai Swinging Bridge and that easy hike is only 10 minutes away. Yaak River (the scene of the popular TV show The Mountain Men) is about a 30 minute drive on the other side of Troy, the Yaak River is a good place for Rainbow Trout fishing. The 1000 year old Ross Creek Old Growth Cedars are a short drive (20min.) on the far side of Bull Lake on the way to Thompson Falls. Wild Mountain Goats, Moose, Elk, Bear, Bald Eagles and White Swans, are all common occurrences on local hikes and drives. Be safe and bring an air horn and bear spray along on your hikes. Boating is fun on Savage Lake, Bull Lake, and Pend Oreille Lake. Several Mountain lakes and the Kootenai River Offer Canoeing, Kayaking and Rafting opportunities. Fly and Spin Fishing on Savage Lake, Bass and Perch are found, other fishing opportunities are in the vicinity. Golfing is in Libby (20mins away.), and around Sandpoint, ID (1hour away). Our family has enjoyed water skiing and tube riding on the lake with quiet times in the evening and morning for fishing and watching the wildlife (Quiet times between 7 PM and 10 AM, no motorboats allowed then). Mornings on the lake are enjoyed on the front deck, with the sun coming up and watching for lots of wildlife. The afternoons are found in shade from the trees, and they help cool those hot days down. Smores are a great way to end the day down by the water's edge around the campfire. I hope you enjoy this as much as our family has! Tom.

About the host
Hosted by Thomas Campbell

We are a Montana Family, we have been fortunate enough to own this wonderful property for about 15 years. We are looking forward to sharing the enjoyment this property has brought us with other travelers and adventure seekers.
Why they chose this property
Troy, Montana, getting away from it all, slowing down life, this is the Montana of yesteryear, all the recreation and none of the crowds. Great place to relax and enjoy all that Montana has to offer, while making memories with your family on this peaceful little lake. My uncle worked for the Forest Service in this area in the 1960's, Dal and his co-workers helped save the Ross Cedars from being logged back then. One of my first memories was spending time up here in the 60's as a child visiting them. Tom.
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet offered by a small lake, most days during the week you can have the whole lake to yourself!
