About Taylor Sampson
Elisabeth and I were both born and raised in Maine and are glad to have returned to Maine's most robust and thriving big small-town! We are excited to share the wonders of this historic abode with you and your friends/family. We are deep lovers of art, music, food, and drink. Elisabeth is a high school teacher at a local alternative school, and I work at a law office in the heart of Portland. We encourage guests to plan their own adventures in our beautiful city, and are more than delighted to recommend our favorite Portland culinary, cultural and civic highlights during your stay. We look forward to providing you a home away from home.
Taylor Sampson purchased this House in 2016
Why Taylor Sampson chose West End
Elisabeth and I were given the rare opportunity to manage this house, and are extremely excited to share it with you. The house has been well maintained over the last 140 years, and everyday we find new intricate details that show off Francis Fassett's personal tastes. While the East End and Munjoy Hill have become popular in the past several years, the West End is timeless. The West End has this safe and quiet aura, and the kind of sunsets you dream about. The house sits in this peaceful community, but only remains a quick 5 minute walk away from all of Portland's offerings.
What makes this House unique
The first time we saw the outside of the house, we knew we had to do whatever we could to get inside. The outside of the house has such a majestic, yet welcoming aesthetic. And the inside didn't disappoint. Nothing beats sitting in the sunroom in the late afternoon reading a book, people watching, or succumbing to a nap. Pure bliss.

Everything was great! Would recommend!
We had a very enjoyable five night stay at the Francis Fassett house in Portland. The house is spacious and well appointed, and offered everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The owner/property managers were attentive when we had questions. We would choose this house again for future stays.
Enjoyable Stay in Portland
We very much enjoyed staying at this wonderful unit in wonderful city of Portland, Maine. Our host was very detailed and considerate in all ways.
Historical with all the modern conveniences
Wonderful historical property with a lot of charm and comfortable living spaces. We all had a great time during our stay for our nieces wedding in Portland.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It's a lovely old house within walking distance to everything. It would be a plus to have a washer and dryer available, and to have a TV somewhere other than in the master bedroom.
The Francis Fassett House is located in the heart of the historic West End of Portland. The neighborhood is picturesque in both its architecture and natural beauty, and within a stone's throw of the Western Promenade. Pine street is located within a safe and quiet residential community. However, within a 5 minute walk you have access to Downtown Portland and its numerous restaurants, bars, music venues, art galleries, coffee shops, grocers, and retail shops.
