About this property
Sunny terrace, great views from comfortable Costa de la Luz home.
Enjoy Casa Colina Blanca - a classic Andalusian courtyard house off a quiet, cobbled street with a large roof terrace & spectacular views of the white 'pueblo antiguo'. Spacious and comfortable. Just inside the old town area, it is a perfect location for the historic centre, restaurants, shops & nearby parking. Sorry, for July and August only Saturday to Saturday bookings. 7 or 14 nights. Vivienda Rural VTAR/CA/00630
The House:
* Well-equipped, modern kitchen area
* Comfortable lounge/dining room with wi-fi, television/dvd and music player (new sofas in November 2021, sorry no photos yet)
* 2 double-bedded rooms
* 1 single-bedded room
* 2 bathrooms, both with showers
* Large, sunny roof terrace with fantastic outlook, table, chairs and a lounging area
* Summer kitchen with gas hob, sink, washing machine and drying space
* Parking very close (the house can be reached by car without having to drive through the old town centre).
Casa Colina Blanca is ideal for two couples or a small family. The 100 sq metre courtyard house is quiet, being mostly detached from other properties. The house is our home for much of the year so is comfortable, stylish and well-equipped. The modern kitchen has plenty of storage and work surfaces. It has a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave, electric kettle, blender, coffee maker and a toaster. If you enjoy cooking you will be pleased to find more space than that available in many Spanish kitchens and a good range of equipment.
On the ground floor the kitchen opens onto a spacious dining and lounge area. The dining table seats 6 and the lounge has comfortable seating for 5 – two sofas and an arm chair. There are some DVDs, reading books and local guide books. This part of the house has newly fitted (2016) traditional wooden windows and is cool in Summer. There is a floor- standing fan in the living room to help keep you cool too. There are electric radiators and a wood-burning stove (firewood is included in the price) if heating is required in Winter months.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor. There is a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. There is a second, larger double bedroom and a small single bedroom, both convenient for the second bathroom. Both bathrooms have heated towel rails.
Up another flight of stairs is an extensive, sunny roof terrace, “Summer kitchen”/utility room and some of Vejer’s best views of the old town and countryside beyond! In Summer, the terrace has sun from breakfast time to the evening. The terrace has table and chairs (new in 2019), for al fresco dining, a lounging space and a large sun umbrella when cool shade is what you need. There is a BBQ and lighting so the space is fantastic for outdoor living from morning to night. It is a great place to relax comfortably with a drink and watch the changing light across the old town - something we never tire of enjoying.
Vejer:
Vejer de la Frontera is a small town situated on a hilltop in the Costa de la Luz area of Andalucia. Our house is centrally located so you can walk to anywhere in town in around 10 minutes (just be prepared for some steep hills!). You can enjoy an evening in the old town which is just a short stroll away. Fresh baked bread, groceries and a couple of medium sized supermarkets are a few steps in the opposite direction.
The old town is classic, white and Moorish perched high above the nearby Atlantic coast. It is a magical place to explore straight out of the house, with its narrow, cobbled alleys, white houses with iron-grilled windows, flower-filled balconies and patios. Enjoy wandering around the quirky shops and dozens of small tapas bars and restaurants. Soak up the ambience and history of the ancient streets, the ‘Iglesia Divino Salvador’, the impressive ‘Castillo de Vejer’ and the beautiful ‘Plaza de España’ - the town square with a colourful tiled fountain surrounded by palms.
Eating out in Vejer is one of its real pleasures. There are so many good restaurants within walking distance of Casa Colina Blanca. We have recommendation in the house guide we have written for guests.
Vejer also has numerous fiestas, arts and cultural events to look out for. For children there is a public swimming pool and the Molinas de Viento (Windmills) playground just a short walk away.
The Local Costa de la Luz Area:
There are local taxis and some bus services but public transport is limited so a rental car is recommended to get the most out of your stay. The nearest airports, all with car rental, are Jerez (50 minutes), Seville (1 hour 30 minutes), Gibraltar (1 hour 20 minutes) and Malaga (2 hours 30 minutes).
The long sandy beaches along the Costa de la Luz are some the best in Europe and, weekends aside, virtually deserted. Just stroll out from Los Caños de Meca to Cabo de Trafalgar to see what we mean! All along the coast are pretty towns with bars and fish restaurants and spectacular cliff-top walks. Try Barbate for the freshest seafood restaurants and Sunday promenading, the famous almadraba tuna caught in Conil or catch a wave at el Palmar.
Surfing lessons are available along the coast as well as wind-surfing and para-gliding. For golf and horse-riding enthusiasts, the Montenmedio country estate is only 15 minutes away by car and has a fine golf course and other outdoor activities in 120 hectares of outstanding beauty.
Locally, there are splendid view points and beautiful walks though rolling countryside and umbrella pine woods. The Alcornocales Parque Naturel is about a 50 minute drive away with lots of mountain walking and cycle trails. The ancient hill town of Medina Sidona is a similar distance and an interesting day out.
Cadiz (35 minutes), Jerez (50 minutes) and Seville offer superb Moorish and historic sites, great food and of course the not to be missed sherry/bodega tours! Tarifa (40 minutes) is a world-renowned centre for kite- and wind-surfing and has a fast ferry (35 minutes) for day trips to Tangier and Morocco. North of Cadiz is the Parque Naturel de Donana, one of Europe's best-known bird watching areas. There is so much to enjoy during your stay!
Guest Access:
The whole house is available to you. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes or hanging spaces but as this is also our home there are some locked storage spaces which we ask guests to respect. One wardrobe in the large back bedroom is private. A small store room next to the dining area is also private.
The house is not wheelchair accessible.
Communication and Local Management:
We are very happy to keep in touch with guests by email and we have an information pack in the house which answers most questions and has lots of suggestions and recommendations.
For your stay, the house is managed locally so there is always someone available to provide access to the house and help should you need it. Our local agent will provide further information once bookings are confirmed. Guests arriving on a late evening flight are advised to stay overnight close to the airport or to make personal arrangements with our local agents.
House Rules:
Andalucía rural tourism law requires all renters and guests to supply photos of their passports/ID, in advance of arrival, so that these can be registered locally with the Guardia Civil. Our local house manager will contact you about a week before your arrival date to secure the documents.
We don’t provide consumable items as part of the rental agreement but there may be some food items such as spices in the kitchen. Please feel free to use them. For the benefit of our next guests, we would appreciate it if you would replace anything that you empty.
Please do not use fake tan in the house - the white towels stain easily.

About the host
Hosted by Dave Murray

I am married, retired several years ago and have a second home in wonderful Vejer. It is this home that I share on this web site, AirBnB and Trip Advisor so it isn't just a rental business it is a place I love to live in for several months a year.
My interests include walking in the hills and on wild beaches, photography and food. I like Winter sun too so you can see why I have a place on the Costa del la Luz! I speak some French and am learning Spanish - slowly!
I want house guests to relax, be comfortable, enjoy the house and area, and come again.

Why they chose this property
Casa Colina Blanca is on the edge of Vejer old town so handy for attractions, restaurants and supermarket/ shops. My wife and I first stayed in Vejer over 15 years ago and loved it. We found the house here in 2015 and fell for it and its view immediately. We also love the area, culture, food, history, beaches and walking.
What makes this property unique
Spacious terrace with some of the best views of old town Vejer. Peaceful cobbled streets of Vejer are a delight to stroll as mostly free of traffic. Plus the location of Vejer close to some amazing beaches where we love to walk, body board or relax.
