Beautiful setting and surrounding area
Spotlessly clean with friendly hosts, set in beautiful gardens and countryside setting. Great location with local village and shops in walking distance down country lanes and coast within 15min drive.
Excellent property but little to do if weather poor
Excellent, high quality property in lovely setting and impressive garden.
Towels and bed linen extra and should just be included in price.
Main problem for us was the (unfortunately unavoidable) poor weather because there is not much to do or of interest in the surrounding area
This is the most wonderful holiday home we have ever stayed in. The house itself is an aesthetic and comfortable delight, set quietly in a stunning garden in a beautiful valley and only an easy riverside walk into Valmont for a morning baguette.
We love to get out and about to see things but we chose to spend much more time than planned just idling our time away in the garden. We did however especially enjoy short trips out to St Valerie (market day Sunday) and Veules-les-Roses (market day Wednesday). In Veules it is wonderful to walk the back lanes following the short river from the watercress ponds.
The owners Rachel & Regis were so friendly, welcoming and helpful and we can't thank them enough for our perfect holiday. We want to live there!

We enjoyed staying at Rachel and Régis's lovely cottage and were made to feel very welcome by our hosts.
Rachel recommended some places to visit and restaurants to dine in which was very helpful and they did all they could to make us feel at home.
The cottage itself is very clean and comfortable with a good quality king size mattress in the main bedroom. I think the main feature was the beautifully landscaped and well maintained garden. It was a pleasure just to sit out on a sunny day or evening and enjoy the view and visit the goats at the bottom of the garden. It’s a very peaceful spot for a quiet holiday and just doing your own thing. There are some lovely walks from just outside the house that take you into town, or further afield if you are inclined. There is also a well stocked supermarket in town. The cottage is ideally placed for visiting the many local places of interest (you do need a car though).
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a charming place to stay.
Beau sympa comfortable propre tranquille

wonderful - restful and
What a delightful cottage - We were welcomed with a delicious homemade pear tart and a lovely bottle of fizz in honour of my Dads 80th Birthday. Our hosts have thought of everything - the cottage is immaculate and has all comforts -very well equipped for a great stay. modern yet in keeping with French country style. Lots to do and see nearby - we had amazing weather at the end of March - we sat on the terrace every evening enjoying the sun and the lovely garden. A great place to enjoy a break in a lovely quiet and very charming area of France
Near the Alabaster coast, the beach of Petites Dalles, the cliffs of Etretat, the marina of Fécamp, the gîte Le Clos du Hêtre is not far from the Chêne d'Allouville-Bellefosse aged 1300 years old which is also worth a visit.
Come and discover the changing lights of the Alabaster coast, from Veules les Roses to Honfleur, passing by the beaches of Petites Dalles, Grandes Dalles, Fécamp, the pretty fishing port of Yport and Etretat. A panel of colors that has inspired so many great painters and writers, such as Claude Monet, Eugène de la Croix, Guy de Maupassant alias Jean de Valmont, Victor Hugo ...
In Valmont, you will see its castle with its keep dating from the Middle Ages. You can visit the 12th century Abbey where the Benedictine sisters live, and attend Masses with Gregorian chants. After the spiritual visit, why not stroll around, return to the gîte by taking the semi-wild, wooded and rejuvenating path of La Promenade du Vivier.
On the practical side, you will find in the village of Valmont, restaurants, a pharmacy, a supermarket, a bakery, a butcher ... many shops, everything you need for a pleasant stay.
Also since 2018, the Lin route bike is open. This greenway, exclusively reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, passes near the gîte. It provides easy access to Fécamp along the "La Valmont" stream via the valley, and on the other side Cany-Barville through the woods and plains.
To see and to do also in the surroundings:
At the Etangs de Colleville (4km), if you want to fish and buy trout.
The nearest beach, les Petites Dalles is 8 minutes by car (supervised swimming, shore fishing).
Visit the marina of Fécamp, the sea and its high cliffs.
Visit of the museum The fisheries of Fécamp in an old cod drier.
Visit the palace of the Bénédictine de Fécamp, where the Bénédictine liqueur is made.
In Fécamp, the aquatic center, offers indoor-outdoor pools and a hammam / sauna relaxation area.
Visit the natural site of Etretat, known worldwide.
Stroll through Veules les Roses, where the smallest river in France flows.
At Lac de Caniel (Cany-Barville) 10km away, a pedestrian promenade, games for children, pedal boat activity, water skiing and bowling, await you.
Quiet holiday rental guaranteed!
