About this property

The Lodge: Gorgeous Wooded Retreat on Pristine North Pipe Lake, Hot Tub

The Lodge is a spectacular cabin on the best lake in Lake Country. The Pipe Lake/North Pipe Lake chain remains clear throughout the summer, has great fishing, recreational opportunities, and a sandy beach and boat launch. Our cabin is on the quieter North Pipe Lake, with easy pontoon/boat/canoe/kayak access to the fully recreational Pipe Lake, giving you two lakes for the price of one! Although we cater to families, with five bedrooms, The Lodge is perfect for a couples weekend, book or crafting club get away or fishing weekends with the guys.

Living Areas
The Lodge has an open floor plan with soaring, vaulted ceilings in the great room, yet remains a warm and inviting home away from home. The great room has access to a multi-level, spacious main deck and a secondary smaller deck off the master bedroom. Windows line three walls of the great room looking out onto the lake, making this space perfect for wild life viewing and watching the gorgeous sunsets. An extraordinary fieldstone, double sided fireplace, hickory floors, a comfortable leather sectional and a baby grand piano make this room so inviting it will be hard to leave!

A fully equipped kitchen, with Sub Zero fridge and a 5 Star range, is a cook's dream. The six burner range with a built in grill and double oven allows for easy, large meal preparation. The over sized fridge is perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen and connected expansive dining room also have a window wall overlooking the lake. The dining room shares the fireplace and is perfect for chilly nights and long board game tournaments. However, throughout the spring, summer and fall, the protected western exposure of the main deck allows comfortable outdoor dining right off the kitchen.

In addition to the amazing upstairs area, the walkout level contains 3 bedrooms and a full bath PLUS another huge amazing living area with a wet bar, fireplace, full window wall and access to two large, shaded patios and the back yard.

Bedrooms
There are two suites of adjoining bedrooms making this cabin perfect for two families to share. Four bedrooms have a lake view and four have direct access to a deck or a patio. The fifth bedroom has a lovely wooded view. The master bedroom has a private deck perfect to enjoy a morning cup or coffee or to watch the sunset in peace. Little ones can share a room right off the master suite if they need to be closer to mom and dad. A large master bath with a soaking tub and separate shower makes this a true master retreat. Need some time away from the kids? This home is the perfect place - a fully insulated walkout level allows kids to have their own space yet close off their bedrooms should they need some privacy too. A separate "parent" bedroom in the walkout level allows a second set of parents to be on that level too. The walkout level bedrooms are very large, giving guests plenty of room to spread out. Windows and patio doors allow a spectacular view of the lake even for the kids.

Outdoor Spaces
The yard is shaded with a combination of white and red pine as well as beautiful hard wood trees including maples and oaks. Fall colors are spectacular and memories are made around the large fire pit as you roast hot dogs and eat those tasty s'mores. Take a short stroll down the steps to the lake where a large, newer TMC luxury pontoon is available for rent for those sunset cruises. Maybe you prefer some old fashioned exercise using the canoe or the kayaks that come with The Lodge rental. Our brand new dock has a fishing bench and swim ladder and there is a lily pad in the lake so kids will spend all day enjoying themselves. Afternoons are spent fishing on this walleye/bass/pan fish lake, swimming, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking or just floating in the lake. Perhaps you just want to curl up with a good book on the front screened porch to enjoy the fresh air. Later you might use the porch for a late night chat or card game should the weather not be agreeable. The kitchen and dining room exit onto the huge deck made for entertaining with a large grill. The lower deck has a hot tub that overlooks the lake and seats six and provides a special view of a sky without light pollution. We dare you to try to count the stars!

Locally, there is a lovely sandy beach near the public boat access on Pipe Lake. Grab our sand toys and beach umbrella and plan to pack a picnic lunch. You can take the short drive over to Pipe Lake or take the pontoon, canoe or kayaks over to the beach through the boat channel. Bring your 4 wheelers and take advantage of nearby trails that go for miles. There are plenty of wineries and local brewers to sample nearby. Relaxing girls weekend
Beautiful location for a relaxing weekend with friends! This home, with it's amazing view of the lake, is just what our group needed. We used the hot tube everyday and enjoyed group meals at the large table in the dinning room. The beds were very comfortable for our over 50 year old bodies :-) We had a wonderful evening out at the County Line bar & grill which was only about 3.5 miles away. The only thing I would suggest is less plug in air fresheners. The one downstairs was overwhelming. Our group highly recommends this home!!

About the host

Host profile image
Tony and I and our daughter Becky have been renting this gorgeous, large cabin since 2016. We have had three properties over the years listed on VRBO, so are experienced owners of vacation rentals. We have truly enjoyed being VRBO owners and love meeting our clients and getting to know our returning guests. It had always been our dream to own a lake home and after buying our first lake home, we purchased this home so we could offer a vacation to larger families without having a major drive and have a chance to have a larger property to host our ever growing family when they all came up to the lake. We enjoy this area and we continue to spend much of our free time at our much smaller lake home nearby.

Why they chose this property

When we first started looking in this area, we thought it was the perfect location for a quick weekend away especially for people coming from the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, Madison or Chicago. There is something very special about having this nearby secluded retreat by a lake to recharge and reconnect with nature and oneself. Sitting on the pontoon with a line in the water or by a campfire gives you plenty of time to talk about the important things in life or just share a silly story. We hope that your memories are built year after year and you will grow to love The Lodge as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

When I first met the first the original owners of the home, I remember how impressed I was with openness of the cabin, the gorgeous fireplace, soaring ceilings and the lake views in most every room. You are surrounded by nature and unlike many other lake homes, our property has a very secluded feel and privacy. The mature trees, a good sized backyard, huge decks, a fire pit, screened porch, a hot tub with lake views and a private, brand new dock with a clean swimming lake allows guests the ability to spend their day in nature. The canoe and kayaks that come with the rental let guests access the larger adjoining Pipe Lake with its great beach and boat launch. There is wonderful fishing in this lake, but there are also many nearby lakes with public access and fabulous beaches as well. ATV/snowmobile, hiking and ski trails are within walking or a short driving distance. Life is indeed slower here and there is time to tell little ones a story or show the pre-teens what you love so much about playing 500. The serenity of the Lodge will infuse you with joy and peace.
