We throughly enjoyed our stay here! The house was clean, comfortable and had such a lovely rustic vibe! Beautiful view of the mountains and the bay, we even had deer sleeping under the balcony that we got to wake up to each morning!
Perfect location, just a 15 min drive to the ferry for Saltspring, close to Duncan and lots of lovely little beach and marine areas!
11/10 we loved it!!
The property was spotlessly clean and situated very conveniently in Maple Bay where we were spending our holiday.
Our host, Shaughn, was very friendly and helpful, communicating closely from the outset.
The property was nice and cool during hot days which was very welcome!
The suite is located privately from the rest of the property.
Shaughn left us a few food treats which was a nice touch.
There are beautiful views of Maple Bay and we were offered chairs and a BBQ for the decking.
We would definitely stay again when in the area!
This little gem proved to be an elixir for our city-bound souls. Sitting on the deck was time spent in a forest with a view of the ocean, and I loved hearing the ravens first thing each morning. I visited with my sister at her home during the day, and my husband reveled in spending his time reading on the deck. It was a win-win! To top it off, Shaughn, the owner, was most helpful and I enjoyed the opportunity to visit with her. We'll be back!
Fabulous setting and location. Shaughn fantastic host and we will be returning

Nice spot but the house needs renovating
House is perched on a wooded slope, nice view out to the bay through trees. Owner, Shaughn was a lovely person to interact with. The veranda was very relaxing to sit on, surrounded by birds, and with the odd passing deer. However the house was a let down. A family of 4, we expected a " 2bed" but found an uncomfortable fold-out sofa and one bedroom with 3 beds in it instead. But the main issue - apart from the house needing a good clean (lots of webs and dead flies inside), was the overpowering stench of dog. We like dogs, but this smell was embedded in the carpets (that need replacing) and all soft furnishings, including the sofa that was also supposed to be a bed.... On Day 2, Shaughn bought incense sticks to help cover it, but really not pleasant and spoiled our 4day stay there.

About the host

My family used this cottage as a vacation home but I now call it my home. The place is serene and heavenly, a treat to locate here after living abroad for many years. I rent the lower master suite which is perfect for a working professional or someone who prefers a quiet lifestyle. There are external stairs to the main entry of this space.
Why they chose this property
This property has great karma, always has, always will. A chef built it for his dear mother and it's been a place of great happiness ever since.
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet. Nature a breath away. Always something interesting to see and do at the Chumbucket.
