I very much enjoyed my stay in Albi. Majestic brick built environment dramatically situated on the facing banks of the Tarn. The city manages to feel both big and small at the same time, with massive, high brick bridges giving vistas of river, city, and sky. Well developed footpaths at river's edge offer shady alternative to city spaces above. Albi has many sites to interest travelers who enjoy history, architecture, and culture, as well as a healthy commercial district with shops and restaurants. At the same time, it doesn't feel like it's lost its essential character and become overly "touristy." The apartment is a very short walk from many of the most popular tourist sites, but its location on a small, winding alleyway makes it quiet and restful. Spacious bedrooms rooms and kitchen/dining access make it a comfortable refuge in which to relax while planning one's next adventure. Owner Catherine was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations and navigation, a gracious and knowledgeable conversation partner.
