About this property

Your Safe Haven in the Heart of Metropolitan Portland

Enjoy a unique stay in one of Portland’s most published and celebrated home and acre garden. This serenely beautiful 19th century Queen Anne Farmhouse in the heart of Portland has been completely re-imagined by the artists and craftsmen of Lonesomeville to create a private world all it’s own. Each aspect was carefully designed and hand built to make the entire acre a unique piece of art.

The first floor features a huge kitchen with banks of French pane windows looking out over the original farmstead and garden. A gas fireplace in the kitchen adds a warm ambiance to any evening. The kitchen also features two large service pantries with complimentary espresso, french press coffee, locally made bagels, orange juice, assorted wines, beer and other beverages. The dinning room features walls of enormous French pane widows looking onto the completely private gardens. The front rooms feature a large fireplace, comfortable seating and unique art. A large front porch, deep back porch and kitchen side sun porch round out the many ways to enjoy this amazing house.

On the second story enjoy two large bedrooms with queen and double beds, mezzanine library stocked with hand selected books, a cozy gas fireplace, side sun porch/sitting room, and completely restored bathroom with a claw foot tub/shower all carefully hand crafted.

NOTE: Although we encourage all of our guests to enjoy the house and grounds with friends and family during their stay, due to neighborhood restrictions we are not able to host large events on the property.

Finally, if you have any questions regarding this unique place, please read our reviews. We strive to make our guests confortable and encourage you to come and enjoy a beautiful environment where your satisfaction is our highest goal.

A little piece of heaven!
We were in Portland for our daughter’s wedding. The house and gardens are so beautiful. The hosts are exceptional. Our 7 year-old grandson was enchanted. Very gracious, lovely, thoroughly enjoyable. We didn’t want to leave. Thank you for letting us stay.

A work of art to experience
As much as I don’t want to recommend for selfish reasons because I don’t want this secret out, I can not tell a lie. This home is so beautiful and charming at every turn, as are the hosts. We will definitely be coming to stay again. Pictures could not do this masterpiece justice in her looks, charm & comfort. The hosts were available for questions & conversation but not intrusive in the least. The garden alone is worth staying for, but all creature comforts were met abundantly

Another wonderful stay at this house
My husband and I stayed here last year and we booked it again for this year. The house is absolutely beautiful and it does wonders for your stress levels which plummet as soon as you walk through the door. Our host Wayne is a delight and very responsive to any request. We had another perfect stay and intend to repeat next year. Thank you Wayne and see you next year!

Garden paradise
We have stayed at multiple VRBOs in the last 4 years and this was by far the best. From the gorgeous gardens, to the perfectly decorated home, to the warm welcome and attentiveness by the owners, we couldn’t have asked for more. We loved getting up in the morning to have tea in the grand room in front of the windows by the fireplace. This may be the first time we were sad to leave a rental. Even our teenagers were impressed by how beautiful this rental is. Would love to stay here again!

The Most Beautiful House
We cannot say enough good things about this rebuilt and reimagined victorian era farm house. The attention to detail, the immaculate paint and painting, the pottery, the art work, the design, the color families, and so much more. Then there are the well kept gardens that are even more beautiful than the house. The various flowers, sitting areas, paths to follow and explore is more than one could possibly hope for. We had fun just sitting on the wrap around porch watching a mother bird feed her hungry brood. The hosts were gracious and considerate and some of the most talented artists one would hope to meet. We thoroughly enjoyed our short time in Lonesome Ville and hope our travels might bring us this way again someday soon. Thanks so much for sharing your little bit of Eden with us! Skip and Julie

We stumbled on this property in 1987. Through the blackberry brambles she sang to us, and we saw the unique character of the property. We have spent the last 30 years restoring the 1890 farmstead to the grace and beauty of another time by hand-building every detail of the house and grounds.
We cherish our ability to live every day in a place that inspires us, and allows us to hone our crafts while living our ideals.

Why they chose this property

Lonesomeville is an artist studio located in the original Blampede farmstead of the Woodstock neighborhood in Portland. Originating from the 1890's, the farmstead features an acre of manicured gardens surrounding the main farmhouse, a lofted barn and original water tower - all providing a completely private, quite respite for our guests from the activity and hubbub of life in the urban core of the Portland.

If you are looking for the best of both a rural and urban experience, there is nothing quite like this place. As one of our visitors recently said, "it's like entering another world." There are infinite ways to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the farmstead, whether it's a quiet evening around the fire, or morning coffee on one of the verandas - inspiration is everywhere. What makes this property unique

Lonesomeville is located 50 blocks from the heart of the city. The nearby village of Woodstock is a quick stroll from our studio, through the historic Woodstock Park. You will find the village full of great amenities such as a wide variety of restaurants, a weekend farmers markets, numerous coffee shops and bakeries. New Seasons and Trader Joe's are also a short walk away. The surrounding neighborhood is a uniquely quiet and safe to visit and offers the best of both urban and rural worlds. We are also 15 minutes from Reed College.
