Very close to the historical center of the city of Ponta Delgada stands the House of Santa Margarida, a secular property that has been in the possession of the same family since its construction (last quarter of the 19th century). It is in Rua Margarida de Chaves that the Casa de Santa Margarida rises freshly in gray and white and with discreet splendor, whose designation honors the "Venerable Matron Margarida de Chaves", who lived in the middle of the sixteenth century and is an ancestor of the family owner of the House. Passing from generation to generation the property has kept intact its soul and atmosphere with fin de siècle flavor, where they live in extraordinary balance furniture and representative pieces of various periods of the national and foreign decorative arts (from the eighteenth century to the present times). With a view of the city, the property hides a garden designed and built to the taste of the gardens of the end of the 19th century and where our guests can enjoy the tranquility of those who are far from the hustle and bustle (despite the location in the center of Ponta Delgada) . Here, in balance, the exuberance of the Azorean flora (spruce, rose and hybrids) with subtropical flora (Dracaenas palms, cycadaceas, azaleas, ferns and several other species) lend the place a palette of varied greens. This garden of aromas and colors is the ideal place to renew the energies after a day of discovery of the Island of S. Miguel, enjoying a glass of Azorean wine or even dining under the scent of the surrounding flora and with the background sound of frogs and birds ...
