Large lawned garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. This detached, whitewashed cottage commands a wonderful position on the Whitehouse Estate. It boasts spectacular views over the Coreen Hills from the front of the house and is nestled in a truly peaceful spot, which is perfect for guests looking to relax. The cottage has been sympathetically furnished in a traditional style and offers a good level of comfort throughout, including log burner in the living room, and a sunroom to the front of the property where you can soak up the beautiful views.
Whitehouse is a small hamlet just a short drive away from the bustling market town of Alford, which is in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Nestled on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park, this property has great walks from the front door, with plenty of other activities nearby, including golf, fishing (salmon and trout), mountain biking, walking, climbing, bird watching, sailing and wildlife watching. Alford has many amenities including a swimming pool, library, and sports centre. There are also pubs, shops, restaurants, and craft shops.
Skirted by the beautiful River Don and surrounded by the hills of Bennachie and Coreen, the area is a great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Alford has two museums and a huge country park area, which are great for family days out. There are also many walks to enjoy, with a historic battlefield and a golf course along the way. Alford Heritage Centre has an extraordinary collection of objects, books, and images, housed in the old auction mart, whilst Grampian Transport Museum is a treasure house of transport history, displaying working exhibits and DVD presentations illustrating the history of travel and transport.
Three miles south of Alford is Craigievar Castle. This is a unique tower house built in the 1580s and was converted to its current form in the early 1600s. Craigievar Castle is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 6 miles.
