The open plan living area makes you feel like you are sitting outside. With its large full-height windows you can enjoy ‘time-stands-still’ views of the rolling Devon hills. The comfortable bedroom has a lovely en-suite and there is a well-equipped kitchen.
The Shed with a View is conveniently located in the charming area of Mid Devon, making this an ideal base from which to explore everything Devon has to offer, or simply as somewhere to hide away from the world for a few relaxing days. Guests can enjoy the surrounding land, which has a summerhouse overlooking the pond, or walk on local lanes and footpaths.
During your stay, there is plenty to see and do. The historic towns of Crediton and Tiverton, or the regional capital of Exeter are within easy reach. The local village of Bickleigh boasts picturesque scenery as well as restaurant and shopping facilities. There are National Trust properties at Killerton, Knightshayes and Castle Drogo. The property is almost equidistant between the northern tip of Dartmoor and the southern tip of Exmoor, for those looking to explore these areas. There are also plenty of local walks into the surrounding countryside. The beaches of both south and north Devon can be reached with relative ease, and cycling, golf and fishing are all locally available.
Your hosts will greet you with a warm welcome as you arrive for your stay at The Shed with a View. Having lived in this spot of beautiful countryside for over 30 years, they are passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of rural living. The surrounding land is managed solely for the benefit of wildlife and Mike and Sheila are keen to share their love and knowledge of the countryside. Visitors who are interested can learn about the management of woodland, hedge laying, wetlands and ponds, and establishing wild flowers to encourage wildlife; insects, reptiles, amphibians and mammals (including the rare dormouse!)Depending on the season guests may observe (or take part in) a variety of traditional activities and techniques including seed sowing, hedge laying, pond management and wildlife. For fishing enthusiasts, you will find wild brown trout river fly fishing 20 minutes away, along with still water rainbow trout venues in the local area, bass salt water fly fishing 75 minutes away and skippered sea fishing at Beer 75 minutes away. No fishing available on the property, your host will accompany you off site by arrangement. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
