This place is a dream getaway sanctuary and I'm so glad I was able to enjoy the place to the fullest. It was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. Debra was such a gracious host. I will definitely come back some time. I highly recommend booking this place.
My son and new DIL stayed a few days in August and absolutely loved it. They were so impressed with the place and even more enjoyed Debra and her hospitality and kindness. Hoping for my husband and I to stay one day!
What a great stay! Debra, our host was both delightful and accessible. The bed was comfortable, the room inviting and we slept well in the quiet of the property. Will most definitely return for future stays - it’s a winner
Debra and Willy were wonderful hosts, welcoming and kind, qualities that I especially appreciated since I had travelled there because of the critical illness and death of a close family member. Their place really did serve as a refuge after a series of very trying days, and the peace and beauty of their mountain top home calmed and restored me each and every evening and morning, preparing me for the day ahead. Thank you both so much.
We absolutely loved our stay!! We rented the room (not the cottage - next time maybe we’ll try that) and it was wonderful. The bed was comfy. The views were to die for. Debra was so accommodating and helpful! I feel like I made a new friend! But don’t get me wrong - she wasn’t constantly with us or anything. We could reach her via text to ask questions and we could run into her in the yard for a quick chat. I will say we did not pack well! The weather is not what I anticipated for June. Pack for all seasons bc it varies greatly from mill valley to San Francisco to Muir Woods. Book now - you won’t regret it!
I was looking for a place to stay outside of the city and I couldn’t have asked for anything better! The property and surrounding area is beautiful and Debra was more than welcoming! Would stay again anytime :)

Amazingly beautiful area
Debra was so helpful in navigating the hiking trails as well as navigating the local places to eat. Serene location with beauty right out the door. My husband and I will most definitely be back to stay whenever business brings us to San Fransisco.
We had an incredible stay in Mill Valley. The host was extremely welcoming and helpful, always anticipating things that we might need. The space was attractive and comfortable. Additionally, the pictures don't do the scenery justice. The checkout was the easiest we've ever experienced. Overall, outstanding hospitality, and we would definitely stay here again!
A time away from the busyness. The land and space are very healing and Debra the hostess is a true joy. Let the land heal your stress.

Absolutely beautiful place
The place is in a beautiful location and the owner was incredibly nice and accommodating. The only negative aspect for me is cost. Stayed in hotel next two nights for less money and had the convenience of refrigerator, microwave, tv and enough outlets for devices.

Hi Katie, I'm glad you enjoyed our setting but sorry you were disappointed by some aspects of our accommodations and price. I would like to address a few of your comments. A TV is available but upon request. It is included in our listing's description of accommodations and clearly stated in my welcome letter which you received upon booking. "Please let me know in advance if you'd like a TV placed in the room." It is our expierience that most of our guests choose not to have a TV so we don't leave one in the room, but as I said, it's always an option. Also, in an effort to be completely transparent about our accommodations we list what we offer in the amenities section of of our VRBO listing and in my welcome letter. "Your stay comes with a tea table w/electric tea kettle and tea selection, fresh fruit, homemade banana bread and snacks". However, what can be confusing (I think) is that the amenities section only lists what is available. So, if you don't see fridge/micro/ etc listed, it is not there. Regarding our outlets, we have electric outlets on either side of the bed, next to the desk and chair, in the bathroom and on the wall near the heater. We have 5 outlets in a single room with bath. Additionally we have an extra extension cord in the desk drawer should one be needed and one located on the side table outlet. Finally, regarding our price. We feel that our price reflects the unusual setting we provide in both natural beauty, location, parking and safety. I have price checked local hotels and although their rates tend to fluctuate according to season and local events, we are most often well below the cost of a standard room in a hotel without a kitchen located on the freeway. Mill Valley is a lovely mountain town. It has all the pleasures of an urban area along with the beauty of natural open space. The cost of living is high here. We do our best to offer a really local expierience for our guests and I offer my expertise as a mountain guide as a little something extra, which is not something you'll find at any hotel or inn. Thank you for choosing our mountain retreat. We enjoyed hosting your visit and I am sorry if we disappointed you in anyway. Best, Debra and Willy
This super cute cottage is exactly as described in the listing. Located in a secluded neighborhood, the views are amazing, the grounds are equally as lovely covered in flowers visited by lots of hummingbirds. Debra is the best host ever. We had coffee, fresh baked banana bread, and artisan toast every morning, served in the garden. It’s such a peaceful setting , we could have easily stayed a week. We’ll definitely be back for a hiking trip.
Debra was extremely welcoming and helpfully communicative. We arrived late on a Friday night and she greeted us as we parked. Our guest house was quiet, clean, and charming with a comfortable firm bed. Our favorite part of the property was the beautiful trees, the quiet natural beauty of the surroundings, and a visit by two deer as we had our morning coffee on the patio. We very much enjoyed meeting Debra who is lovely as well as incredibly knowledgeable about the local hikes, Mill Valley, and the history of the area.
Beautiful property tucked up in the hills above town. Quiet, great views! Kind and generous hosts. If I try hard to complain, a power strip so that there were some freed up outlets near the bed would have been a plus. Thanks

Hi Jonathan, It was a pleasure having both you as guests. Thanks for leaving the room in perfect shape and for being so thoughtful and friendly. I wish I'd known you needed more plugs, I would have directed you to the power strip located in the bottom right hand drawer of the room's desk! Drat! Missed opportunity!
Debra went above and beyond to make me feel like I was at home. Her beautiful heart was reflected to me from her constant kindness and attention to detail in making her space gorgeous in ever sense of the word. Highly recommend staying and taking advantage of the peace and quiet. Along with all the mountain hiking trails. Will always be staying here in the future.
This is my second stay at Deb’s place in Mill Valley and any time I stay in Northern CA, I will pick this spot. First of all, Deb is a saint. Saint Deb. One of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. The property is perfect. Super tranquil, no scent, and an absolutely amazing place to take in nature and just unplug. You’ll feel miles from anywhere, yet just a short walk or drive into town. This is my forever go to stop in Mill Valley.
Located on a high ridge overlooking Mill Valley, our host Debra provided a secluded, peaceful, and romantic setting for my wife and I to get away. As a seasoned trail guide, Debra was also able to give us recommendations for some great trails to take into Muir Woods and surrounding areas. So close to San Francisco, but a world away. Debra recommended a great Mexican place to eat, and a fish place in nearby Sausalito where we watched local fishermen bring in their catch. Can't wait to come back to this beautiful place!
Misleading profile that may or may not bother you.
There is NO PRIVACY in either of the 2 units listed here. The nice table shown in their pictures is off limits.
We were told that we only had access to a portion of a shared lawn. When we refused to stay in place with the very public outdoor porch area, they KEPT OUR CLEANING DEPOSIT and we didn't stay there.
It is bad enough to keep 2 days lodging (VRBO refunded their fee to us) but they crossed-the-line my keeping a cleaning deposit that was never used.
Just on principle, please don't stay here.

This guest refused to believe he rented our room space even after showing him the booking details. He wouldn't look in the room. He did not view our other listing. He cleaning deposit was returned to him prior to his review. Need I say more.
Debra was lovely. The place was AMAZING, and it was perfect for our needs. We stayed a week while visiting our son who works in Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Read the description of this property carefully. The room we stayed in had its own entrance, but, you do not have the entire property to yourself. The room is attached to the host's house, and there it a small cottage on-site as well. That said, we always felt that we had all the privacy we needed, both inside and out.
There was no kitchen in the room, but there is a tea kettle and refrigerator. She offered a microwave if we needed one, and Debra kept us supplied with clean dishes and filtered water each day.
The drive up to the house is winding, steep and narrow, but the seclusion and views are worth it! It is walkable to downtown, but you need to be in good shape to make it back up!
We loved staying here, and look forward to coming back when we are in the area again.
