AMANI HOUSE - a perfect retreat with stunning sunset views across Mtwapa Creek

This stunning 2 bedroomed spacious apartment (100 sqm) is overlooking Mtwapa Creek and provides for outdoor living in an ecological environment. Each bedroom is self contained and the open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room are based on Swahili coastal design.
The Space
This is a perfect place to retreat and enjoy the natural environment. You can go for long walks, take a canoe trip along the creek and many other activities outside the common tourist trail
Guest Access
The 2 bed roomed apartment is very spacious with an open plan sitting, dining and kitchen, as well as a terrace overlooking the creek. Guests also have access to the roof top
Interaction with Guests
we will be there to give you support when you need transport or advice on restaurants and entertainment in the area. Otherwise we will leave our guests to be on their own.
The Neighborhood
Amani is a serene place where you can walk for miles or just relax on the verandah or roof top. The beach and entertainment places are only 5 km away. KWETU training centre is the nearest place and staff will be happy to tell you more about the protected mangrove forest ecosystem. You may also want to go on trips with the fishermen who also provide transport along the creek with their canoes
Getting around
Motorbikes or taxis can bring you to the main road from where public transport is easily available
Other Things to Note
this is an Eco HOuse powered by solar and wind. Our water supply is from a well and rain water collection tank. We therefore use existing resources cautiously.

A corner in paradise

This place is like walking into a dream! Beautiful setting, lovely architecture and art pieces, warm and hospitable hosts, helpful staff. The pictures do not do justice to the space. There are two bedrooms but also a rooftop bed available which my Adult son enjoyed and a spacious living room and dining area. There is all you need for self-catering in the kitchen. The pool is lovely as is the view from the pool. My only detractions would be that 1) there are two splendid dogs who need time to get used to new people. This was not a real problem except we felt a little like we were inconveniencing our hosts, not to mention the dogs! 2) this is an eco retreat. If a/c is important to you and you come in warm season (Jan-March especially) you will find it uncomfortable and maybe difficult to sleep. 3) the road to Kwetu (the training center where Amani sits) is quite bumpy and long. This is not a problem but simply you should know in advance. There are many places to stay you will pass in the way but none as special as Amani! I recommend this place wholeheartedly knowing the above will be part of the package. You will be so glad you experienced Amani and congratulate yourself for finding it, as I do!

Our house is surrounded by nature, you can go for long walks along the mangrove fringed creek or into the villages where you can still be part of the traditional rural life.
