Paolo was a great host. He was there to meet us upon check-in and helped us arrange our transport from the airport. He will also recommend many spots to visit and places to eat. This area of the city is very historic and interesting. The property is located close to many shops and restaurants.
Its a nice view and your legs will get a workout which is great if that's your thing. The electricity is keyed so its kind of a Hassel if its hot. Overall, We liked it.
It's a workout to climb to the top of the building in 37ºC heat, but luckily Paulo can hoist your luggage up there and the air conditioning was a lifesaver.
It will be worth the climb because the view is wonderful, it is quiet, private, secure and you can have a few choices of accommodation. The area is interesting, there are plenty of shops, restaurants and many sights to see. It is close to major train stations that will take you wherever you want to go, including straight to Pompeii and Sorrento, and not far from the porto if you want to get near the water.
Paulo was always very quick to respond to our questions and calls for help and gave us good advice in so many ways.
I would stay there again (but hopefully not in a heatwave)
I can't review the property itself because days before we were scheduled to check in they had some major issues caused by the recent torrential rainfall. But the owners (Raffaele and Paolo) took care of everything. They moved us to a different apartment in an amazing "locals" neighborhood where we had the best experience being some of the very few tourists we came across. They also helped us by arranging transportation for our party of 4 adults with big luggage, and accommodating all of our requests/needs. Thank you both SO MUCH for making what could have been a significant issue into an amazing experience
Vacation is precious. It’s important for bookings to go as planned. If this sounds reasonable, then DON’T book this property and avoid this host (Paolo Serpone). We enjoy choosing Vrbo properties that make vacations special. A hotel is just a hotel, but a Vrbo makes the accommodation a fabulous part of the vacation. For years we’ve booked Vrbo vacations and never had a host perform so abysmally.
We arrived and Paolo did not meet us, rather, his assistant brought us to a unit that was not what we had booked. Instead of a 2 bedrm/ 2 bthrm, beautiful apartment, we were stuffed into a cramped, dingy bed-sit / studio.
We assumed there was a mix up and contacted Paolo. No mistake - Paolo summarily decided we didn’t need the space and put us in a completely different unit! A unit that in Naples costs 1/3 of what we’d already paid. We could see the unit we had booked and clearly Paolo had rented it to another party!
Paolo evidently thought he was qualified to plan our vacation, to suit either his greed, or his stupidity in double booking. After a nasty exchange, all Paolo did was refund of a tiny part of the cost, and rudely told us to “enjoy the view” from the closet he’d stuck us in.
If this sounds like an unacceptable risk then don’t consider this or any property hosted by Paolo Serpone. There are great properties, hosted by people with integrity in Naples, so avoid this risk to your carefully planned vacation.

Dear Kevin, in the 30 years that I have been doing this job I have never had a review like this, as you can see from the other reviews everyone has always been super happy and delighted to stay in my flats.
Unfortunately at your flat there was a maintenance problem and I gave you a flat that has 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen living room and a much more panoramic terrace than the one you booked. The flat has a far better view and is truly a jewel in the heart of the historic centre of Naples, in fact it is sold at the same price as the one you booked, precisely because it has these characteristics! I would never have given you a flat of lesser value.
If you saw people in the flat you had booked, it was only because on the last day of your holiday the problem was solved and I was able to rent the flat and it didn't seem right to me to have all your things moved just for one night. It is understandable that unfortunately a maintenance problem can always happen and I gave you one of the nicest flats I have, it is impossible that your holiday was ruined because of this.
What's more, as you requested I also gave you a financial reimbursement, which is why it seems even more strange to me that you would write such a review.
I'm sorry that you say you ruined your holiday, when in fact you stayed in a wonderful flat where people love to stay, as you can see from the link

This apartment is ideally placed for exploring all Napoli has to offer, especially the ancient city, and has wonderful views from the terrace of the rooftops, cupola, sea and mountains! It is light, spacious and comfortable.
