About this property

Escape to the country with us - Near Henley on Thames...

Welcome to Corner House. 2023 will be our fifth season. We're delighted our former guests have really enjoyed their stays with us.

It's the perfect base as you explore the quintessentially English countryside that surrounds the house.

We would like to invite you to come and stay with us.

The house is just 5 miles outside Henley on Thames, six miles to Wallingford, 20 miles to Oxford, 10 miles to Reading and only 40 miles to London.

About Corner House:
A spacious detached home set in the heart of the historic village of Nettlebed in between Henley on Thames and Wallingford.

Well redecorated, it sleeps 8 people, has space for entertaining and relaxing outside when the sun shines; inside it's cozy and warm for a winters night by the fire.

Our guests tell us that they love the space, the peace and quiet and how relaxed and at home they feel. A perfect escape from town, whilst still having lots to explore and do nearby; and only an hour outside London.

Set in the heart of the village in the stunning Chilterns AONB.

The House:
Corner House is a spacious and comfortable house that's bright and spacious. The original artwork in each room adds colour and vibrancy to the space.

The kitchen is fully equipped, has an American fridge with water and ice maker. The dining table comfortably seats 8 and has a lovely view of the garden.

The lounge has a large wood-burning stove with comfortable sofas for those cosy nights in. There is super fast Vodafone Wi-Fi, digital TV with terrestrial stations, Amazon Prime and Netflix.

There are 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and an en suite with shower room.

The next bedroom is the same size, has a standard double bed and enjoys great light and views of the church and surrounding countryside. The remaining two bedrooms are slightly smaller though both have standard double beds.

Upstairs there is an en suite, family bathroom with power shower and a separate shower room with an electric shower. There is a separate WC downstairs.

The garden is laid to lawn enjoying both a sun deck with a distant view of the church and a shaded area too. There is a BBQ for outdoor cooking.

There's parking for four cars on the driveway at the front of the house and no road parking restrictions.

Welcome Pack:
To help you settle in there is tea, coffee, milk, bottle of prosecco and some beer in the fridge. The kitchen is equipped with condiments and olive oil.

As your host, I have lived in the area for over 20 years and have a pretty good local knowledge. It’ll be a pleasure to share that with you as you plan your stay.

Look forward to meeting you.

Ideal house for a family get together
Suited our family get together of 7(4 generations age 2 to 88). Plenty of bathrooms made mornings run smoothly and plenty of space and seats etc for eating and relaxing. Large fridge freezer if you had a food delivery and a lovely welcome package, thank you. We were attending a local wedding so spent limited time in the house but it has a reasonable sized garden if you were there for a while. Log burner and electric heaters. Close to Henley, but you'd probably need a car to stay here. Lovely pub in Nettlebed, literally 5 minutes walk straight down the path from the house. Alan was quick to answer any questions and gave us a thorough welcome tour. Plenty of off road parking.

Easter getaway with children and grandchildren
This was a nice modern house in a quiet residential area and was ideal for our family’s week stay. The property was clean and tidy and Alan, the owner, was friendly and helpful. Nettlebed is ideally situated for touring the area with some great National Trust Properties nearby. Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Blenheim Palace and Bletchley Park all also only a short day trip away. Would certainly recommend booking this property.

House perfect for our needs
We rented this property for a family wedding held in Henley on Thames. We had a really lovely time. The house was perfect for our needs which was for all the family to be together for our son's wedding. Spacious and extremely clean and tidy. Alan had thought of everything and made us extremely welcome. The surrounding area is very pretty, lovely beech woods. The village is lovely with the The White Hart pub/hotel within very easy walking distance. All in all a very successful stay. Thank you so much Alan .

Corner House Review
Host Alan met us at the property upon arrival and thoroughly explained everything we needed to know. Absolutely delighted with Alan and the property which fully matched the listing. Corner House was very clean, well equipped and exactly what we required for our family stay. All four bedrooms are well proportioned, large kitchen and dining area, ample parking, large garden and excellent quiet location.

I love living at Corner House, it's a very happy home for me and is the place I feel comfortable. Due to my work as an actor, presenter and property developer I'm fortunate to be able to travel. Wherever I have been in the world, this is still the place I want to come back to.

Why they chose this property

Buying Corner House coming on 15 years ago, I really like the sense of space. In the summer I love to have all the windows and doors open and allow the breeze to roll through. The lounge and family room is great for entertaining, the bedrooms are a good size and I feel really at home here.
In the summer the garden is great for enjoying the sun, in the winter the wood burning stove makes it very cosy and warm inside. It's very comfortable and welcoming; this is the place I love to come home to.

What makes this property unique

The first time I came to Henley some 27 years ago, I just knew I wanted to live here. It's a quintessentially English town in the home counties; with a real sense of the summer season. As an added bonus I can get to London in just over an hour on my motorbike. This is a beautiful part of the world, it has so much to offer.
The countryside is awesome for mountain biking and sport, with a lake nearby for wake, surf and paddle boarding. To me, we are in the most beautiful place; whilst being close enough to the motorway network, airports and London.
