Kataway is named after the beautiful bay the house overlooks on Myall Lake.
Kataway is situated on a private road offering uninterrupted views over park like gardens to Myall Lake at the front and unspoilt wooded hillside views from the rear of the house.
Kataway is a double story house featuring large open plan living spaces with timber and sisal flooring and high cathedral ceilings.
In the heat of the summer Kataway is light and bright catching the breezes off the lake. The living spaces open onto a huge deck that allows you to take in views of the garden and the lake. Passing kangaroos and even the occasional koala can sometimes be spotted too. The deck is furnished with timber lounge chairs & a dining bar table with a fixed shade sail. Its a great spot for breakfast, and afternoon nap or sunset cocktails. The Webber bbq is out there too.
After a hard day on the lake, at the beach or exploring the surrounding countryside, it is comfort that you want and this is what you get at Kataway.
There are several separate relaxing areas for friends, family and children. The decor is an eclectic mix of 50's style, French provincial, artworks and quirky decorative touches, huge comfortable sofas to stretch out on and plenty of armchairs to curl up on. On cold winter nights gather round the wood burning combustion stove in the main living area and with oil fired radiators in every room, Kataway stays warm and cozy through the cooller months.
Upstairs and downstairs each have their own TV areas which include widescreen tvs, dvd and dvd collections. Cd player, CDs radio etc.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped with all utensils and crockery needed for preparing, cooking and serving light snacks through to full dinner parties. There is a gas stove top with electric range and grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer a Nespresso coffee machine (you will have to take your own Nespresso coffee pods to use) and a Webber gas bbq for cooking the freshly caught seafood (from the fish co-op if its easier). There is also an outdoor fireplace/bbq area which is a great spot to stargaze from.
Kataway offers a peaceful master bedroom with king size bed and a single bed with fabulous views over the garden to the lake. The second guest room offers queen size bed and scenic views of the wooded hillside at the rear of Kataway.
The 2 main bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with separate shower and bathtub.
Downstairs you will find a huge rumpus room with comfortable sofa, armchairs and dining setting, as well as a single bed. Ideal for the kids to escape to.
Adjoining the rumpus room is a huge twin queen bedroom with sliding doors onto the garden.
Please be aware that due to the current situation with COVID-19 we are not supplying linen. You will need to bring your own linen and towels.
The downstairs accommodation is serviced by an ensuite shower room with toilet plus a separate laundry with frontloader and drier.

Great stay. Comfy, spacious, well-equipped house with beautiful views over the lake and lovely breezes. Close to Seal Rocks and Smiths Lake but it's very nice to just lounge about on the deck.
Lovely home with great views. Ideal to enjoy Barrington coast, lake water activities and sea. Clean and with all you need for a great stay. Just need some blackout curtains if you’re planning to sleep in.
Unique place with style that feels like a home away from home
We really enjoyed our stay. There are some many things special about this place that you could see that the house was well loved and well cared for - a lot of "treasures" to discover as well with great CD and book collections. Thank you for opening your home for others!
A beautiful home with everything you could possibly need including games, toys and puzzles. Host was very responsive. It is difficult to park when you have more than 2 cars as the street is steep and narrow. The location is surrounded by impenetrable bush so don't have hopes of walking anywhere.TV reception was disappointing and there was no wifi.

Great views and great garden ( with roos morning and evening). Proximity to a good beach and and to a great chippie for that obligatory by the sea fish supper!! Loved the quirky collection W ggerman 1970s ceramics!!!
Great house! It has a lot of character and is really comfortable. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain and didn't get the opportunity to enjoy the deck enough but the fireplace made up for it. A lovely comfortable house with lots of space.
We spent two nights at Kataway with a group of friends for some much needed relaxation. The house was well stocked for cooking and the deck was the best spot to hang out. Perfect location, close to Neranie, Seal Rocks and Bungwahl. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfy, with beautiful views (either to the lake or garden). The house would be great in winter or summer. We will definitely visit again.
This house is beautifully perched on the hill overlooking the Myall lake.We felt really comfortable on entry and it proved to be a lovely place to stay. The house was bright with great views from most rooms...the furniture was comfortable and quirky...really well thought out ...Thanks Nathaniel for your efforts
Great place, quiet location, drive to lots of beaches, coffee machine a great bonus. Kitchen is fully stocked, great cooking facilities. Deck is amazing for drinks and watching the sunset. We enjoyed our stay, 4 adults 2 teenagers & 2 kids all comfortable here and downstairs is wonderful for the kids to get away from the adults. Only negatives are the ceiling fans only run on low and it does get quite hot upstairs in the afternoon and no curtains on the downstairs bedrooms.
We stayed as a family of 6 plus grandparents and had a great time. Kataway is in a lovely peaceful position, the balcony has gorgeous views of the lake. The house is spacious and has a couple of living areas and the kitchen was well equiped with a nice coffee machine in addition to the Nescafé one. Great location for water activities (we were here in winter so didn’t apply). Lovely area for runs or walks in the national park. No wifi or streaming services but the teenagers survived admirably.
All of my family loved how serene and beautiful is position of the house. Extremely private, at the same time close to everything you might need.
We went snorkelling to the Boat Beach 10 min down the road and saw Green Turtle!
House is extremely well equipped , we cooked both nights. Books and board games galore!
We stayed in August, so wood fire burner was keeping the house really warm and cosy.
Thank you, Nathaniel

The house has been beautifully renovated and the large outside balcony provides a great place to socialise with drinks and dinner. It was very comfortable and catered for the essentials. One downfall is the rocky road/dirt track that you have to drive on to get to the beach - however the beach was worth the drive. Thanks again.
