Primrose Cottage, Albury - Good house, bad management
Although this is a good house in a good location, its management leaves a lot to be desired.
Six people and dog were booked in for a 10-night stay, from 23 December to 2 January.
Furniture was insufficient with a serious lack of drawer-space or hanging space. Bedroom 2 had no wardrobe or chest of drawers. Bedroom 4 had only a single bed, with no other furniture at all.
The mattress on the bed in Bedroom 2 is old and quite dangerous as it tends to collapse under the sleeper and has the potential to cause serious injury.
No first-aid kit was provided.
No change of bedlinen or bathroom towels was provided, which for a 10-day stay is entirely unacceptable.
There was no fire blanket or fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
The washing machine would only work at boiling temperature. There were insufficient pegs to hang out a small load of washing.
Altnough the house is advertised as dog friendly, it is not, because dogs are not permitted inside the house, even in the tiled area at the back of the house on days of 40-degree heat.
Cleaning equipment was almost non-existent. Despite our specific request for one, no vacuum cleaner was provided. Now the proprietor, having failed to supply the requested vacuum cleaner, wants to charge us for the cost of the services of a professional cleaning firm.
Despite the good location, we were most disappointed at the inadequate facilities provided. The overall impression was that the house was not being properly monitored for wear and tear and potential problems in between lettings. Our stay was much less comfortable than we had expected it to be.
Michael stayed for 10 nights without any complaints only after I asked him for extra money for cleaning did he decide there was problems with the cottage. The extra was due to him allowing a dog inside the cottage which he clearly acknowledges was against the cottage rules, leaving hair and stains throughout and even on the couch. Unfortunately I had no other choice than to get in a professional carpet cleaner. We get lots of great feedback re our beds both before and after Michael's stay and it seems that he is the only one who said the mattress collapsed tiping him out! Perhaps there was another reason maybe a medical episode. The cleaner was denied access on two occasions, obviously due to the dog being inside. I take notice of legitimate complaints from guests and do all that I can to make their stay enjoyable. Michael is just making excuses to cover up the mess he left our Cottage in. think Michael will find it difficult to find accommodation in Albury the next time he visits. Especially as he refuses to pay for the additional cleaning charges.
All of my reviews are 4 to 5 stars so as a Premier Host I must be doing something right.

Great location, easy walk to the main street in Albury. Facilites were perfect for us being four adults and four children.
The only fault was that the lawns needed mowing and the garden you a wee bit sad.

Nice spacious home in great location
Clean, tidy and comfortable. Within walking distance of CBD.
Lovely warm and cosy house which suited our needs to a T!
Had a little trouble using the app to communicate e.g. updating guests but was able to work through this with Gayle.
The house suited our needs perfectly. It was clean, well provisioned and located in a quiet area within walking distance to the town.
The outdoor bathroom however was cold and the fan loud and alarmingly noisy. There was a smell about the room ?? bats.
The main bathroom door lock was loose and didn’t work on after day one but we were a bunch of mature women and figures that knocking was all that was needed to fix the problem.
Overall, a fabulous, comfortable house that met all of our needs and would definitely stay here again.
