Things to Do at Bemurrah
You can just take time to unwind, put your feet up and enjoy the views. Maybe relax by the majestic Macleay River with a good book
Have a swim in the crystal clear waters, try your hand at fishing or go exploring the river in your canoe.
At night enjoy the firepit under the stars with your favourite wine.
If you want some gentle exercise you could go bush-walking and try to spot some native wildlife including wallabies or our abundant bird life.
Bemurrah is still part of a working cattle station so in spring you will enjoy seeing new baby calves running around playing with their Mums.
Go for a drive to one of the fabulous national parks that surround us or grab your board and head to the coast.
Fishing, canoeing, swimming, bush-walking, bird watching or just sit and admire the views. It's your choice. You will need to bring your fishing and canoeing gear.
Attractions And History
The Macleay Valley Coast's commercial origins in timber-getting and dairy farming can still be seen in it's historic landscape. Abandoned farm houses and sheds tell stories of the pioneering past. A visit to the national trust village of Bellbrook is just like taking a step back in time. Bellbrook was named in 1882 by Caroline McMaugh after the local bellbirds and the adjacent river. It is a significant example of a turn-of-the-century hamlet.
Travel the 'Slim Dusty Way' from the Pacific Highway at Kempsey to explore the childhood tramping ground of Slim Dusty around Bellbrook, Nulla Nulla and the Upper Macleay Hinterland.
Or you could head to the coast and visit Trial Bay Gaol, in the Arakoon State Recreation Area. Don’t miss the view of Trial Bay from the guard turret at the western end of the complex.
Mountains, rivers, historic villages and a short drive to the coast. What more could you want?
