About this property
Farmhouse on Top of Varneys Range close to Snowy Mountains & Jindabyne
Farmhouse
Getaway & relax in a lovely small group holiday house in the Snowy Mountains region. Top of the Range is 1200m above sea level and located 13km from East Jindabyne on the Kosciuszko Rd . This country home provides lodge style accommodation with a large lounge/dining room, a well equipped kitchen and a separate laundry/drying room. It has a large covered veranda with 180 degree panoramic views of the countryside. There is a Queen size bedroom with Ensuite, a Queen bedroom with ensuite toilet & basin, and a third queen bedroom sharing a 2nd full bathroom. Our spacious grounds and entertainment areas are perfect for the family or group booking. To the west is the main snowy range & from the house you can look down the Thredbo valley to Crackenback top station & Mt Kosciuszko. At night you can see the lights at the top of the Thredbo chairlift. As we are in the Snowy Mountains region, you have vistas with and without snow depending on the season you visit, and you have the seclusion of the bush all around. To the East we look across the Monaro plains to the Wadbilliga National Park & the coastal ranges above Narooma, Tilba Tilba & Bega. As you are on a very large country property, there is no problem with parking the largest of vehicles.
Skiing
The property is just a 45 minute drive to the Thredbo, Perisher, Blue Cow, & Guthega ski slopes whilst Mt Selwyn snowfields are about 75 minutes away. There is a Ski & chain hire store in Berridale 8km away, or alternatively there are numerous stores in Jindabyne, a 20 minute drive. The farm house is well suited for a skiing holiday with friends & family. It has a large Lounge/Kitchen/Dining Room with a very hot log fireplace to keep you warm during your stay. The heat from this room is also ducted to all the bedrooms & bathrooms making the entire home very cosy. If you are worried about the CO2 created, our 100 hectare property is almost entirely covered by bushland which breathes in hundreds of thousands of times more CO2 than the fire creates.
Bushwalking
The 100 hectare property has many kilometres of bush tracks which abound in native flora and fauna. A beautiful display of native wildflowers to be admired while out strolling, walking, hiking, bushwalking or braving the more adventurous mountain bike trails on the 100 hectare property. Many visitors head to the creek valley for a change of scenery. There is a 100-metre drop from the ridge to the creek bed and Coolamatong Lake. At Top of the Range you are right among many of our unique native animals. These include Kangaroos, Wallabies, Echidna, Wombats & Emus. We also have Deer & Alpacas roaming around the property.
Star Gazing
As we are a long way from city lights the Milky Way, the Planets & Constellations are very easily seen with the naked eye. Just recently all the planets of our solar system aligned, & we were able to see them all.
Fishing
In summer, trout fishing in the lakes & mountain streams is also very close at hand, with Lake Jindabyne 10 minutes away, & the Thredbo river & Lake Eucumbene only 25 minutes drive.

The house had everything we needed for a winter holiday with friends - a great kitchen, lots of room and a big fireplace that warmed the whole house. They were even kind enough to set the fire up ready for our arrival. Would stay again.
The house was very comfortable and cosy.It had plenty of everything. It was great to see kangaroos around the house every day. We were very happy with the inside of the house and the many bathrooms.
Property had every thing we required GREAT LIVING AREA WITH A HUGH FIRE PLACE. Well done Russ. Only helpful comment would be for property Manager to adjust sliding doors to verandah. Will will recommend to our friends Regards Gary & Sharman
Perfect location and facilities for our ski trip (Perisher). Our 2 families comfortably stayed and enjoyed the warmth of this large but cosy cottage. It had everything we needed and Russ was so lovely to deal with and meet on site.

Beautiful views
Beautiful area of natural beauty. The house was comfortable but a little tired.
Escape the masses to a comfortable place that’s isolated with stunning views!
We were wanting a place to escape and we found it. Set high on the ridge this place is very comfortable, with stunning views of the plains below, and still close enough to the town of Berridale and Jindabyne. Great communication with the owner too.
Lovely place. Nice feeling of a home rather than a rental place.
Stayed here 3 times and will be back next year.

A good property with lots of extras
Although we stayed in Spring, this place would be very comfortable in Winter. Ample heating; comfy, warm beds; best fireplace I’ve ever used and adequate hot water if you use it wisely. The views and wildlife are amazing and the kitchen and entertainment provisions are more than enough. Bathrooms and bedrooms are a bit outdated but if you get past that, it is a great place to stay comfortably.

Beautiful Property
We stayed here for the weekend, it was a beautiful property. It is hard to find (on GPS), I would suggest to use the GPS Coordinates provided by Russ instead of using the street address. This house is amazing for a big group and the property itself, we could spend hours and hours exploring around. Every morning we would wake up to kangaroos in the yard. The views from the house is breath taking. It is a 40 minute drive to Perisher and a 15 min drive to Jindabyne. I cannot wait to come back and stay next year.

Family Fun Holiday
Great accommodation, your very own lodge positioned on top of a mountain, stunning views. The perfect ski trip, everything we needed to escape, linen, towels, soap & a fully functioning kitchen in an open planned living area with a massive stone fire place. An ensuite in two of the bedrooms means next time we will invite friends to come too, plenty of room. We booked here because if the conditions were not favourable we could bush walk or hike around property, will have to do that next trip as it was snowing none stop. Definitely a next trip, loved that no detail was forgotten, plenty of firewood, towels, tissues, glad wrap, pots, pans you name it they had it even outdoor lights for when you get back in dark after a big day.
