About Carla Winter, owner
Greetings. We're Richard & Carla owners of Plaza Samara, unit #3. We love Samara Beach. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area when not in Samara. The rest of the time we rent out the space. We reserve the right to be careful and selective to who we rent. This is our home, and we've spent many years making it just the way we want it. We want you to enjoy & treasure it and the magic of Samara too.
Carla Winter, owner purchased this Condo in 2004
Why Carla Winter, owner chose Sámara
When we arrived at Samara Beach it was love at first sight. The town and beach was everything we ever dreamed of in a tropical beach paradise. We bought the property before it was built, just a vacant lot w/ a blueprint and a prayer. We are grateful that the project completed and the property is now thriving. We are planning to be spending more time here. In between those times, we like to rent to appreciative guests.

Highly recommend, lovely accomodations!
Truly "Elegant Condo"! Very spacious, well stocked kitchen with full size refrigerator, washer and dryer worked perfectly! Beds were clean and comfortable, and we felt secure with gated yard, as well as being upstairs with great door locks. The pool was refreshing in the heat, and the air conditioners worked very well. Although there was street noise in the night , the convenience for walking to shops and the beach was worth it. I would recommend this Condo, and hope to come back again!
Spacious and clean
We really enjoyed our stay at Carla's house in Samara. We were met promptly at the property by the manager. The condo was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location was excellent - a 2 min. walk to one large grocery store and 5 min. to another and only a 5 min. walk to the beach. There was A/C in every room and it worked well and quietly. We felt safe at the condo and in the town. It was handy to have a washer and dryer. The pool was clean and had a covered patio area. The little town of Samara had lots of restaurants (many along the beach), bars, bakeries, mini-supers plus the 2 big grocery stores. The beach was wide, flat and long and we enjoyed renting beach cruisers to ride from one end to the other. The beach was fairly calm and we felt safe swimming. We spotted howler monkeys one morning as we biked near town. We drove into Samara from Liberia and the roads were paved and smooth the whole way.
Nice stay, close to beach and restaurants, busy but fun area.
Property was much enjoyed. Our correspondence with Carla was very helpful and prompt. Her manager, Nick, did a good job answering questions, and giving tips and hints. The condo was clean upon move in, and kitchen and laundry areas well appointed. Only issues to point out would be that the microwave did not work, and the street noise in the 2 bedrooms on the street side were quite noisy from street activities which usually died down by about 11:00 p.m. The resident iguana which we called Brutus until we learned that his name was Pedro, was a bit possessive if you found him sunning on the steps to the condo. We enjoyed him but give him time to move when he is on the steps.
So glad that Jeff enjoyed the space and has a lovely sense of humor too. To address the issues he mentioned, 1) So sorry about the microwave malfunction as it is relatively new, recently repaired, and now replaced, since it's last kaputz. One thing that is true about Samara is that it has power surges and outages galore due to the tropical climate. I do have surge protectors and they may help protect the appliances, but likely not completely. 2) Yes, we are in the heart of a beautiful and popular with the locals beach town and the weekends and holidays the town can be in very high spirits, and it does quiet down @ 11, until dawn when the howler monkeys wake up with a roar. 3) Pedro the iguana's middle name is Brutus, so he was quite contented. He does enjoy bananas too, but unfortunately, no matter how many times I've asked him not to, he still poops on the stairs. :-)
Great place if you like to be in the centre of things
Clean, spacious condo right in the middle of Samara. Bed in the master bedroom is super comfortable. Be advised if you are in Costa Rica for peace, quiet, and the sounds of nature, you might want to find a place a bit outside of the town like in the Buena Vista neighbourhood, though.
Central in town. Watched live music for the balcony on the first night. Clean and accommodating.
Loved our stay
We loved our stay at Carla’s Condo. The place was roomy and comfortable and the managers were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect- just a few minutes from the beach, near a lovely yoga studio, organic grocery and delicious bakery. Our favorite part was the large iguana that acted as a sentry to the condo, and scurried around the roof. We would definitely return.
These delightful guests arrived with excitement and a happy positive attitude that not only made them a joy to host, but I am sure Samara sensed it and showed them it's best face. I am so glad they appreciated "Pedro" the house iguana, guardian of my entry. This party is welcome back, with pleasure! Carla
