The house is beautiful, warm wood, A-frame, well made. And the location is perfect. It’s a short walk to the public docks on the lake in one direction, and to the store and cute breakfast and lunch restaurant in the other. We had a great time! I would recommend more towels, sheets, and light bulbs for the future.
Beautiful home in great location with some kinks to get sorted out
The house is beautiful and spacious in a great location, close to Donner Lake and ski resorts.
We didn’t get check in information send to us more than 24hrs in advance, so we messaged the host for that info. It should be noted that their rules state guests are not allowed to use the laundry or the garage. That was not obvious from the listing.
When we arrived getting the keys was easy. The main living area has a beautiful gas fireplace that was on and used to heat the house (supplemented by central heat).
The kinks that we experienced:
1. The upstairs master bedroom/bathroom ducts were blowing cold air while all the other vents were blowing warm air as desired. We messaged the host and they gave us instructions to use the fireplace thermostat to heat the house and the upstairs would be the warmest in the house. We followed their instructions, but the master was never the warmest in the house.
2. In floor heat in master bath not working (coldest room in house).
3. Master bath has a loose faucet
4. Toilet loose in common downstairs bath
5. Fridge water dispenser doesn’t work
6. Dining table chair cushions aren’t attached (each of us “fell through” the hole in the chair seat when the cushion shifted off center
The biggest issue, however, was when we came home from breakfast before 10am to find the cleaners waiting. Despite having til 11am to check out, they came inside & started cleaning while we were packing and didn’t give us space to tidy up & pack up as we usually do.
Perfect house and location near public Donner piers!
This house was perfect for celebrating our daughter’s 16th birthday at the lake. The girls loved having their own space upstairs in the master bedroom and loft while my husband and I were downstairs in the guest suite.
The house is new and gorgeous with vaulted ceilings and huge windows:)
The public docks are within walking distance and great for swimming.
We rented a boat for the afternoon Saturday and the rest of the segment were enjoyed the house and its proximity To the lake.
The owners were very communicative and helped give me ideas about things to do in the area.
I highly recommend this place based on location, a gorgeous house with lots of room, and wonderful owners that were helpful in planning our special weekend away.

Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Disappointed, so much potential
Guest suite bathroom shower door broken and glass in the bathroom and in the actual shower. Very dangerous!
No room to park two cars in the driveway due to old broken down snow plow car and golf cart
No room to park on the street due to other neighbors vehicles and boats
Garbage in and around the broken down car and driveway
No privacy: curtains in Master Bedroom too small, all window coverings are see through even in the Master bathroom, glass doors into the Master Bedroom
Jacuzzi feature not operational in the Master bathroom tub
4-6 lights or lightbulbs burnt out throughout the house
Belgium waffle maker left in a terrible mess, not useable unless seriously deep cleaning
No mixing bowls to mix waffles
No hand soap or other toiletries like hand towels
No hooks or towel racks in the bathrooms
Stained sheets and linens on several of the beds
Actually sleeps 10 if the pullout bed in the living room is useable

About the host

During the 1970’s my grandfather purchased several properties around Donner Lake. I have fond childhood memories of coming to Donner Lake with my grandfather and in 2006 our lot was cleared to build our house. My grandfather was able to enjoy time with my family in our new home. When he passed away, we hung an oil portrait of him in our dining room so that we can remember his kind heart and generosity. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do as well as all the wonderful things Donner Lake has to offer!
