An absolute gem
We have found an absolute gem!
This lovely ‘olde-worlde’ house was a wonderful place to stay for a long weekend.
The location was perfect – a very short stroll into town but also just across the road is a beautiful walk through the Beehive Mine ruins.(Perfect when you have dogs to walk – as long as you walk them on lead!)
The house was very clean and comfortable, with lots of options for keeping warm. The bed we slept in was very comfortable and plenty of warm bedding was provided. There were board games and books if you required them and lots of interesting memorabilia to look at. The kitchen was well-appointed and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the fridge. (We certainly hadn’t expected that!)
The garden was delightful and perfectly secure for our terriers, who I should add, were welcomed inside as well. As another reviewer said, this property was pet friendly rather than pet tolerant.
Our hosts answered every query we had promptly by email and could not have been friendlier or more welcoming in their correspondence. They sent tips about the heating and just made us feel so welcome in general. We loved Maldon and can’t wait to come back again. We would definitely stay here again –places where dogs are as welcome as humans are not easy to find. Thank you to our hosts for making us and our terriers feel so welcome. It was a memorable weekend and we are already planning a return visit later in the year.
Great place to stay
We had a lovely stay thanks heaps
We loved staying at Miltanvy. It has a wonderful charm and was very well presented. It's also in an excellent location close to the centre of town.
Close to town
The house was well located to the township of Maldon and we loved this aspect. The house itself represented a time in an era past. The house was full of memorablia from the past and gave you an insight into what it could have been like. Unfortunately some of the aspects of the home were a bit to be desired, we may like to experience the past but we still like the comforts of today. The house needs to be refreshed and loved once more. The missing push button of the toilet, the springs of the lounge chairs digging in when you sat down, the unkempt garden were but a few of the areas that need addressing. The house has so much to offer.
Taking all this into consideration my 88 year old mother and myself still had a great time.
Ideal cottage just at the top of the main strip in Maldon. Walk to the shops, walk to the pub for dinner, explore and leave the car parked at the cottage. Very warm and cosy. Garden seating for when the sun is out during the day. Pet friendly. Perfect!
Very well positioned on edge of town. Easy to explore old Maldon town.
Quiet, cosy, comfy - perfect for a couple of nights.
