About this property
The "Croas" Nest on The River w/ Geothermal Hot Tub near Hagerman Idaho
With spectacular views and geothermal hot tub, this cozy log home is a special place to retreat and recharge! Perched on the hillside overlooking the mighty Snake River, the spacious front porch offers a classic view of the Southern Idaho rural countryside, with basalt buttes and distant farmland. Located just a few miles from Miracle and Banbury Hot Spring Resorts and the 1000 Springs Scenic Byway, the area has ample opportunities for water recreation, hiking, sightseeing and bird watching!
The home offers a rustic charm with an array of modern furnishings, antiques and artistic touches. It is clean and comfortable with with all the modern amenities. Radiant floor heat will keep you cozy in winter and the A/C comfortable in summer. A fully equipped kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea during your stay.
Drinking water is provided as the property has only a geothermal water source. Geothermal water means that the water is coming out to the ground hot. Having only a geothermal water source means that the house, faucets and showers will not have a cold water option. The water coming out of the pipes will initially feel cooler and then as you run the faucet the water will eventually get warmer until it is at it's full heat. It is never scalding, just a really nice temperature that is wonderful for bathing, showering and for the hot tub.
The Space:
The ground floor hosts an open kitchen/dining/living great room, a half bath and master bedroom. The living area has a large screen, WIFI equipped TV to access your Amazon, Hulu or Netflix accounts in addition to a DVD player. You will also find a Room & Board leather couch with a California queen sized hide-a-bed and twin bed sleeper sofa/chair.
The dining room table can expand from an intimate two person seating arrangement into a large table that can accommodate 8 people.
The Master Bedroom has a queen bed, chaise lounge, walk-in closet and private full bath equipped with a claw foot tub. Laundry facilities are also part of the walk-in closet in this space.
Upstairs are two “open-air” loft style bedrooms both with queen beds. These two bed rooms are not completely private but are rather open to the rest of the house as lofts typically are. Please make sure that your entire party is aware of this and comfortable with the open air architecture of the house. The upstairs also has a full bath with shower, writers nook and private deck.
The jewel of the house is the front porch! Gorgeous views anytime of day or night and bird watchers will love it. There is always a set of binoculars there waiting for you! Watch the full moon rise over the butte or just relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine!
Why spell it "Croas" Nest instead of Crows Nest?
The builder of the house and a dear friend, Dave Croasdaille pronounced Crowsdale, created his "nest" up on the hill outside of Buhl when he retired. Indeed you feel like a bird perched on the porch almost level with the flight path of ospreys, herons, pelicans, birds of prey and migratory song birds. Dave loved creating ceramics, dancing, living a health conscious lifestyle and gardening. His passion was growing daffodils and planted over 4,000 daffodil bulbs around the property. Neighbors enjoyed receiving bouquets of daffodils in early spring from "Daffodil Dave." To this day we have continued Dave's tradition of planting, growing and delivering daffodils! Staying at the Croas Nest from mid-March thru April is a special treat, not to be missed! This is your chance to live in fields of daffodils!
Even after the spring bloom the gardens, landscaping and water features create a peaceful, pleasant atmosphere all year round. We want our guests to unwind, re-charge and soak up the healing hot waters and beauty of the area!
Your Hosts:
Amy and Jay live one mile from the Croas Nest and are usually available on a short notice to help with anything during your stay. Don’t hesitate to call or text. Amy is an artist and her studio is located in the garage at the Croas Nest. She may come and go from the studio during your stay. If you need something and she is there, don’t hesitate to knock on the studio door. Otherwise your privacy will be respected and she will not disturb you.
We ask for a two night minimum. However, if you have a special circumstance then please let us know and we will see if we can accommodate your request.

About the host
Hosted by Amy Westover

Hello! My husband, our daughter and I have a small 2 acre organic homestead within one mile of the Croas Nest. We love creating our dream place complete with chickens, cows, a fruit orchard, veggie gardens and flowers. We are artists and fabricators and always have a building project or art commission that we are working on. Amy's art studio is located in the garage at the Croas Nest where she works in kiln-formed glass and printmaking. Jay is a wearer of all hats....and has incredible talent with wood working and metal smithing. But most of all we practice "the art of living well." We all enjoy exploring the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking and experiencing the wonders of nature!
