About this property
Gala House with views overlooking lakes and Vernon in North Okanagan
Curlew House was the original house on the orchard and was completely renovated. The interior is fully modernized, open and spacious with gas fireplace and all the amenities. There is a large picture window off living room and french doors from the main floor master bedroom to a large deck with views of the valley & lakes.
From the back door there is a nice sized mud room with a washer/dryer set, lots of storage for summer fun items or ski's and snowboards in the winter. There is also a large bathroom, on the main floor with two sinks, large tub and separate shower along with a toilet behind closed doors. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, a queen, double and single. There are individual thermostats in every room to control the heat/cooling system to your liking.
The grounds around the house have several flower gardens, large Linden trees, a variety of fruit trees, veggie garden and herb spiral, all overlooking the valley and surrounding countryside. A tree'd path leads down to the apple orchard and pasture where a few sheep, some ducks and chickens hang out.
The Grey Canal trail is steps away from the front door leading along BX creek to the waterfall, or several kms along the Silver Star Foothills. We are close to downtown Vernon and 20 mins to Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre with Silver Star Resort just beyond. All in all, it is a quiet place to relax and enjoy the sunsets over the Okanagan hillsides.

About the host
Hosted by Patrick or Sean Ling-Allen
Patrick grew up in Vernon and moved back in 2015 from Toronto with Sean and their kids. We're here for our families and friends, skiing above the clouds and swimming in gorgeous warm lakes. We incorporate a permaculture approach in running the orchard and certified organic in 2020.
Our home is next door to the guest house and Sean runs Centred Pilates studio in a former packing house on the property and offers group classes, training workshops and wellness retreats.

Why they chose this property
When we were considering moving back to Vernon we wanted at least one of us to be able to work from home to be available to the kids. The timing and situation in our lives was right to combine our interests of building community around food and stewarding a piece of land. Here is this chance to live in the land of fruit and vegetables, contribute to growing quality food while hopefully raising our kids to respect, care for and connect to this habitat. The North Okanagan is just right for apples, so we set out for an apple orchard and fell in love with a view as a magnificent bonus. We have 7 acres of apples (with room to expand), a pasture, 'alot' of garden located on a quiet, no thru gravel road, near 2 creeks, bordered by a trail, a view and a couple horse pastures. We're happy to be able to call this home.
What makes this property unique
