Great location
Location for this property was great, right in the middle of Katoomba. The listing did not meet our expectations based on the photos and description. It needed a good clean and dust. Heating was not sufficient for winter, particularly the bathroom and kids bedroom due to the draft from outside. We spent our days exploring the blue mountains and had a lovely weekend otherwise.
We were here for a conference so unfortunately we weren't able to use the house as much as we would have liked. However, the house is located perfectly to both the conference centre and the town centre, which made it incredibly convenient for us. Although there were 5 of us (all adults), we still fit comfortably in the house. Thank you Lisa for hosting us!
We had a fantastic stay, the property was just right for our group. We were staying with a group of teenagers but it would have also been perfect for younger kids with a great playroom. We loved having the fire on our first night, and there was plenty of room for the rest of our travelling companions to join us for dinner. Many thanks for a great stay.
We had a lovely stay over the Kings birthday long weekend. The house was beautlifully clean and check in easy. The house is stocked with everything you need for your stay including kids toys and movies, a playstation machine and a well stocked kitchen. We loved the fire - thank you for the logs to get us going on our first night. Great location, a short walk to the Katoomba shops an Scenic World.
My family and I had another lovely stay in Katoomba thanks to the accomodation. Very well catered for children + the fire place was a highlight.
Hope to be back again.
Thank you
Hi Lisa
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your house over the weekend. As mentioned by previous visitors it was well equipped for my kids which allowed my wife and I to relax by the fire while they played. Plenty of toys for the little one and for the big kids the PS3 was a win. We were able to easily walk to the town centre for morning coffee and also walk down to Scenic World. Highly recommend Cahills lookout which is a 5 minute drive away especially at sunset.
Resourceful, thought out and conveniently located we will be returning again.
Thank you Explorers cottage for hosting us.
The house was in a great location, very close to the shops and major nearby attractions (Scenic World, 3 Sisters, Katoomba Falls Illuminated walk, etc). The house was very well stocked, with plenty of toys and books to keep younger kids entertained.
Great location super impressed with kitchen utilities and supplies. This booking was booked and changed and booked Lisa accommodated every change and was very helpful and there to make sure your stay in what you hoped. Will definitely stay again.
Great location for tourist attractions and shopping.
Fireplace made the home feel cosy during the cooler nights. Creature comforts of home while not at home.

The house is located close to shops and beautiful walks. It's full of useful things for kids - toys, high chairs etc. Our kids had a fantastic time.

Cosy Mountains Escape
If you are looking for a spacious, cosy and relaxed place to hang out at this is the place. The house is well equipped for a autumn/winter mountain stay. It has a cosy fireplace, oil heaters in all rooms and electric blankets on all beds. Bedding & towels were supplied which was great! Also a few logs to get your fire started.
If you have babies or kids there is plenty of equipment, toys and games to keep them busy. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and preparing food. The bedrooms are modern & comfortable.
It's not to far by car to all the main sights and towns but could be a bit steep for walking in the area for some. There is great coffee & service at nearby cafe Cassiopeia and Hinkler Park for a kids playground.
The owner is very friendly, quick to respond, helpful and answer queries :)

Excellent property!
The house was very well equipped for 4 adults and two small children.
The only negatives we experienced were an unclean BBQ from the last guests and a leaking roof in the back sun room when it rained.

Well set up home close to attractions!
Great little home that is roomy enough for 4 adults and 2 children. All the essentials you need and more. The kids loved the plentiful toys and games.
It was a lovely touch to have some goodies left in the fridge on arrival.
House was clean and tidy however some of the dishes had not been cleaned properly (this is an expectation of the previous guests though) and the back patio could have been swept to enjoy more use while the kids play outside.
Close to all the attractions around the blue mountains.
Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Great place for kids
We stayed for a couple of nights in August. Having a backyard was great for kids(4 & 7) as were all the kids toys in the front room.

Ideal family escape
Could not fault our stay, we were lucky enough to be able to experience snow. We woke up to a think blanket of snow covering the property and surrounding katoomba. It was so surreal.

Great family-friendly place
We had a great few days at Explorer's Cottage, Katoomba. It was a spacious and comfortable place for us, and well-equipped. The kids loved the toys there, the garden and the cubby/slide in the garden. We all enjoyed the real fire and this made the living area cosy, although (being a very cold time of year) the bedrooms were chilly (even with heaters on) so take plenty of warm clothes in winter. A lovely house.

Great stay over New Years!
We had a fabulous stay at Explorers Cottage! As a group of 5 runners we found it comfortable and roomy and we would highly recommend it to any group. It is close enough to the main street to walk to get food and supplies but far enough away to ensure peace and quiet. You don't need children to enjoy the comforts of Explorers Cottage as it caters for adult groups and couples just as well as it does for kids. Lisa was lovely and provided us with recommendations and local information over the holiday period.
