This cozy little cottage in cane garden bay is the perfect home base for exploring Tortola. It has delicious restaurants and fun night life in walking distance and is very close to all the best beaches. Hosts are very helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay again!
If you want to stay in Cane Garden Bay, this is a great place! Short walk to the beach, market, and restaurants. Sharlene was in contact on our arrival day to make sure we got in and had everything we needed, and Louisa came to check on us after a bad rainstorm and helped us with laundry. Both were extremely friendly and helpful!
The cottage is described perfectly and has all the amenities you need for a stay. Comfy bed and sofa bed, too!
Excellent location with just a short walk to the beach and all of the excellent beach bars on Cane Garden Bay. It’s a popular spot for boaters and one of the best swimming beaches in BVI! Property was very spacious and clean. Property managers are very responsive. We would stay again! Only negative are the wild roosters that are sure to wake you up.
We had the most perfect stay at The Cottages, no. 2. The Cottage was exactly as photographed. Ms. Sharlene, and Ms. Pinky, the Property Managers, were excellent, organized and super quick in their response time.
Upon arrival, Ms. Pinky greeted us onsite and gave a tour of the property. The Cottage had one bedroom with a sofa couch which was perfect for two people. The Cottage was clean and the decor was very modern. The kitchen & bathroom were stocked with the necessities. We ordered groceries online for delivery upon arrival. Ms. Pinky collected the groceries and unpacked the items.
There were also a few bottles of insect repellent which you will need. The AC was fully functional as was the hot water. All comforts of home. There was also two beach towels, a cooler and chairs available.
The location was perfect. A short walk, maybe two steps to the beach, the grocery store, Bobby’s & plenty of eateries and restaurants. Also, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We met a few friends on the Island and hope to see them again on our next stay.
My only recommendation for travelers would be to prepare/budget for the costs of taxi’s if you’re not going to rent a vehicle. The costs to venture from Cane Garden Bay to other parts of the Island can add up. If you’re going to rent a vehicle, then pack your patience cause’ of the hills and hair pin turns, which are all completely doable.
All in all, I’m looking forward to my next stay at The Cottages.
The Cane Garden Bay cottages (we were in #2) were perfect for our trip into Tortola. We were there for 5 days and loved the location as well as the cottages themselves. Convenient to the beach, grocery and restaurants as well as very comfortable for relaxing at the end of a busy day. Sharlene was incredibly helpful and made check in/check out effortless. We had a taxi driver (Robinson) that we coordinated trips/times all week and he made everything super easy and reliable. We left his cell # in the info book in the cottage. The open, airy and updated feel of the cottages contributed to the great vibe of Cane Garden Bay for us. We had an outstanding trip and look forward to hopefully being back for a few days next summer.

Thank you for your kind words April! The description of your experience with Cane Garden Bay and The Cottages, is eloquent. It is exactly what we strive for, but is so hard to convey to prospective guests! It wouldn't be possible without the dedication of Sharlene and indeed all of Sam and JC's staff, working hard and doing their best to make every guests' experience special.

Cozy little cottage, conveniently located, next to the beach and restaurants
Cozy little cottage, conveniently located, next to the beach and restaurants. Had all the amenities. Some of the door knobs need to be fixed as they don't lock properly. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom in cottage 1 is in a precarious situation. Would be nice to have the stove/oven in the kitchen upgraded.

3 1/2 stars actually. It's good. It worked for us.
This house is cute, reasonably functional, has the nicest towels we've ever used! It needs a little TLC. Kitchen is well equipped, needs a can opener. The screening to the house outside the bedroom leaks Some bugs. The toilet needs a little attention to function fully. All this is easily remedied and would turn a good experience into a great one!

I have initiated a check of all screening to ensure it is fit properly into place. The can opener has been replaced. Thanks for the heads up on the toilet. We appreciate this kind of feedback from our guests. I have suggeste a check list for the housekeeper and a "To Do List" for the guests to point us to things that can be improved.

About the host

I live in Alberta, Canada. I am involved in secondary wood manufacturing, elk farming and organic food production. My wife Kelly and I, have been married for 32 years. We have three adult children and three grandchildren. We all love Tortola and Cane Garden Bay.
Why they chose this property
This property was originally purchased and developed by an uncle and eleven other 'cockeyed optimists' from Alberta, Canada, in 1979. My father bought out eight of these twelve in 1990 and upgraded the property. I got involved soon after and have been managing the property for about 20 years. We have continuously improved the property, including a full renovation in 2013.
What makes this property unique
We are located at the quiet end of Cane Garden Bay, literally steps from the beach and a short level walk to everything you need.
Our property is 1.75 acres and is unique in that we have a large, lush private yard, shaded by coconut palms and almond trees. There are hammocks to relax in and high speed wireless for your convenience.
There is a tiny, family run bar and general store right next door. Rental cars are available locally.
With four rental units (see VRBO Listing #'s 357970, 914873 and 914875 for details on the other three units) and a large private yard, we are a great place for family vacations, weddings and business meetings.
