3 bedrooms, peace and quiet between the farm and the forest, not far to Orange
About Sally Walker
We are a family of four, all country born and bred. We run a real farm not a hobby farm. This keeps us very busy, but we are happy to show guests around or include them in appropriate farm activities whenever we can. We have two teenage children. We enjoy sharing our special slice of Australia with others and showing visitors a little about modern farming - if they want to. Visitors are also welcome to just relax and enjoy The Rockies and don't need to have any contact with us other than on arrival.
Why Sally Walker chose Manildra
This is a beautiful area. Our farm has a range of topography and soil types allowing us to run different enterprises that benefit each other and fit together well. It has good farming country whilst also having some wilder and pretty country too. We are part of a lovely caring and vibrant local community. And Orange and Cabonne have all the services, entertainment, food and wine we could wish for.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The Rockies is set in a magical location. It is so peaceful and nature is so close, you don't have to even leave the yard to see native animals. The views, the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular. The Rockies just has something special, everyone who stays seems to really love it.

Close to Manildra, this is a lovely, welcoming property that is tucked on a rise just below the tree line. Sitting out at night watching the stars and wildlife was a highlight. Thank you to our hosts who had stocked the house with some local goodies. Delicious.
It was the anniversary that was always wanted!
Staying at the Rockies for the second time, this time was no different. Very relaxed and amazing.
This is our favourite place to stay! Will be back!
Super quiet and definitely away from it all!
If you want to see the stars at night, this is the place. Just you, kangaroos and a few domestic animals. The accommodation is rustic but certainly met our needs and comfort requirements - just come prepared with the food you will need. It was very cool at night (down to 6C) but the heater/AC kept pace inside. The cool temperatures dampened enthusiasm for using the outdoor bath, unfortunately.
Didn’t want to leave
The Rockies was amazing, the location, the serenity, the bath.. omg the bath.. we just didn’t want to leave. Sally and her family were so hospitable and lovely the whole time.. we just wished we had more time there. Definitely will return and stay a bit longer

A wonderful escape in beautiful countryside, with warm, authentic hospitality
This home has a perfect combination of seclusion and space; set on a hill not far from a national park, with views in all directions. The house was clean, comfortable and cozy. Fresh herbs, a local Shiraz and a very good fig preserve were just some of the welcoming touches. We walked on the property and visited neighbouring towns; our highlight was a short trip to some of the livestock, learning about the farm and meeting the family. Many thanks!
A great escape
A great place to escape the city and enjoy some country hospitality. Clean, comfortable accommodation. Lots to do on the farm and around the central west plains. I highly recommend.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of the Australian bush in between the fabulous wining and dining options of the Orange Region.
