Barong on the Water. Relax in the sweeping gardens on the edge of Lake.

A short trip from the heart of Melbourne and you feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a small paradise that is completely exclusive for guests.

Barong on the Water is and old style farm cottage offering a home-away-from-home experience, including all the modern luxuries right on the shore of Lake Nagambie.
You will find Barong is set back off the road by 200 metres , so you can relax on the sweeping lawns in the garden.
Barong is situated minutes from Mitchelton and Tahbilk wineries.

The house includes 1 ensuite connected to the master bedroom and a second, larger bathroom.

With 4 cosy bedrooms that sleep up to 6 adults and 6 children there is room for everybody, and then some.

The spacious patio, featuring a 12 seater alfresco area and BBQ, gives a panoramic view of the Nagambie Lake and private access for swimming and leisure activities.

Barong on the Water is located close to local wineries and eateries, along with many other attractions offered by the area.
Ample parking is available for over a dozen cars.


Things to do:
_Take leisurely stroll into town, along the boardwalk, around the edge of Lake Nagambie.

_ Moor your boat at the bottom of the garden . There is a landing provided for your exclusive use.

- Visit Tahbilk Winery and Wetlands Cafe. Experience Australia's oldest family owned winery and continue onto the Mitchelton winery, providing sweeping views of the Goulburn River.

- Take the Goulburn Explorer tour boat for a ride to Tahbilk and Mitchelton or go on the night tour and see the Goulburn under lights.

- Try one of the districts best wood fired pizzas at Bank Street Wood Fired Pizza & Gardens in neighbouring Avenel and browse Gadd's Olde store for a step back in time .

- Fowles Wines does an excellent midday meal, with their renowned Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch wines.

- Make sure you put a boat or canoe on the lake and tour the Goulburn River and scenic lagoons. You can use your own or hire locally. Spend a day drifting down the river from Seymour in a tinnie or canoe.

- Have lunch at, the Nagambie Brewery or Black Caviar Cafe in Nagambie.
Enjoy an evening at " 1860" ,in the Main Street of town, with hosts: Bernie and Adele .
Travel to Longwood . on a short drive, to the White Hart hotel .

Barong was a beautiful house and property, and dealing with the host was easy. The property is private and connects to the waterfront boardwalk that we took into town each day (20-25 mins walk) i would thoroughly recommend for any mid sized group and families.

We had such a lovely stay at this beautiful waterfront property. The location was perfect — right on the water and an easy walk into town. The fire pit was a highlight in the evenings, and the kids made the most of the huge backyard.The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches like the nice linen, snacks, and a bottle of wine waiting for us.All 12 of us had a fantastic time and agreed we would happily come back again one day.

This property is absolutely heavenly!!!! My friends and I stayed for a wedding we had in Nagambie, there was 12 of us and we absolutely loved this property, we already cannot wait to come back. Beautiful home and beautiful location. Owners were so lovely too! Couldn’t recommend enough.

Stunning Property with an awesome hostess

Barong is beautiful with its sweeping lawns. Many an afternoon nap was spent on picnic blankets in the shade. The house is perfect for 3 families. We went paddle boarding, played golf, went to a winery, had dinner at the brewery and enjoyed a session at the waterpark. Lots of fun had by all. I highly recommend staying at Barong. Lots of extras thoughtfully placed for our arrival too, Sandra went over and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

Family and Friends Weekend Away

We absolutely loved our stay at Barong on the water. The house and grounds were beautiful. The cupboard and fridge was stocked with food and snacks. The kitchen was well appointed with all we needed. The rooms were spacious and there was plenty of beds for 2 families to sleep comfortably. The property is close enough to town and accessible by a boardwalk but is very private as it’s set back from the road and the water. We will definitely be back again when it’s warmer to enjoy Nagambie lake and more.

Great Place on the Lake

Beautifully presented home with one of the best backyards in the region (on the Nagambie lakes) Very comfortable for our group of 7, well equipped kitchen and comfy beds, super clean throughout. Now, the location of the fire pit with the lake in the background was second to none. Sandra and Andrew were very friendly and easy to deal with and it was a very nice touch that we had some breakfast and other pantry goodies to enjoy. The lads and I loved this place and are already planning the next getaway. 5 stars

We absolutely loved this place!

The minutes we all arrived we were so happy we picked this charming, spotlessly clean and appointed holiday home. We were a group of 8 celebrating our annual early Christmas weekend away and not one of us could find a single fault. Comfy bedrooms, a kitchen with everything you could imagine, lovely light filled rooms and bathrooms and the incredible outdoor space! We spent most of our time out here - bbq, wine fridge, sink and huge table- and gazed out at the lake via the lovely gardens. We utilized the boardwalk at the bottom of the garden to wander into town (20 mins max) and do some shopping before returning for a swim and then a fire in the large fire pit with all wood supplied. We really were super impressed and will be back. The hosts were lovely and kind and booking/ instructions were great. Thank you Sandra for your wonderful house and property. You literally have thought of everything!!

50th celebrations with the girls

A relaxing stay was had by all of us! Barong on the Water is a lakefront farm house, that is secluded but still only a short 20 minute stroll along the boardwalk and paths into town. There is a massive outdoor fire pit by the lake with so much firewood! An outdoor undercover dining area is well serviced with a fridge and sink, and has a gorgeous view to the lake. There is plenty of parking onsite. Indoors is cosy and inviting, and the pantry is well stocked with the basics, and some delicious treats provide by our lovely hosts. We were a group of 7 adults, and there is ample space, with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! Once it got a little chilly outside we came in for dinner and sat around the large dining table. This house is so well located, and you can make as much noise as you like, without the fear of annoying neighbours telling you to stop having fun. The hosts are friendly, welcoming and generous with an early checkin and late checkout! We will definitely be back!

Stunning Property, Awesome Hosts, Perfect Weekend

We spend my birthday weekend at Barong and I could not have chosen a better place to stay. Before checking in Sandra took into account my plans to be on the water and informed me of river closures so that I would not be disappointed. I was so relieved to know that I could do what I wanted to do and it was so thoughtful of her to let me know. Sandra's husband (so sorry I can't remember your name, it was a busy weekend!) came to check in when we arrived and was super friendly and great to chat to. The property itself was immaculate. Super clean, well supplied and very well suited to 12 guests. Anything we could have asked for was there from outdoor fans/BBQ/outdoor fridge, to clean bedding and towels, kitchen equipment and firemaking materials. It really felt like they have thought of everything. The weather was hot and it was so nice to walk through the pristine gardens and hop in the lake to cool down. I, unfortunately, could not get our boat down, but it is a perfect spot to moor during your stay. We didn't make it to the wineries but will have to come back again! The brewery in town was great for lunch. Nearby IGA had everything else we needed. I cannot think of a single complaint. Everything was perfect. A huge thank you to Sandra and her family for helping to make my birthday so special. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
