About this property

80 acre farm with an awesome view of the AuSable Valley with Hot Tub!

A Very Picturesque, Multi-Enjoyable 80-Acre Semi-Forested Farm Located in the Middle of Amish Country, Northwest of Mio, Michigan (Huron National Forest / AuSable State Forest)

The Farm is literally just minutes from AuSable River fishing, swimming, picnicking; canoeing/kayaking/tubing and launch sites. In addition, the Huron National Forest and AuSable State Forest offer hundreds of miles of trails for Hiking, Horseback Riding, ORV, Motorcycle and Groomed Snowmobile trails. By the way, ORV's are allowed on all Oscoda County Roads... Hey Golfers; ever heard of Garland? Just 13 miles away! Not a bad drive to enjoy a few great ones...

Our Farmhouse: Our quaint and cozy farmhouse, with a wrap-around valley view country porch, sleeps 4 to 6 and has been fully renovated (inside and out/top to bottom); especially the refurbishment of the original farm-grown and on-site milled hardwood flooring throughout, including the two upstairs bedrooms. The farmhouse features air-conditioning units on both floors; propane forced air heat; free wifi: Roku TV. Carbon dioxide, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting also provided. For your arrival security, a pre-assigned coded entry pad (no keys) awaits your private code input. For your convenience, the entry pad allows you to enter your own private entry code for the duration of your stay.

The Living Room consists of a full size La-Z-Boy Sleeper couch that pulls out to comfortably sleep two. Roku Tv for viewing entertainment.

Kitchen and Dining Room: The Fully-Equipped Tiled Kitchen, with two tiled entries, is all stainless steel with two electric stove tops, each with overhead venting; oven; micro-wave and oven combination; dishwasher; refrigerator/freezer; 12-cup automatic drip coffee maker; Keurig; electric can opener; blender; mixer; safety toaster; dish towels and wash cloths; and Amish made Hickory cabinets. A gas grill, located just off the end of the lower deck, is also available for your outdoor grilling. Rear deck with relaxing hot tub!

The Dining Room, located between the kitchen and living room, is very handy for preparing and serving snacks or meals from the peninsula stovetop kitchen counter. An antique dining room table, with an overhead stained glass chandelier, can seat six and can be extended to comfortably seat more (or, if nothing else, for the convenient placement of food). It is a warming experience having dinner, and through the dining room windows, watching big snowflakes floating down.

Our Property: The 80 acres consist of rolling/hilly meadows overlooking an awesome panoramic view of miles of the AuSable River Valley Forest; and a 3 acre, spring(s)-fed, stocked pond (beach deep up to 36 feet) featuring a 'right-on-the-shoreline' finished fishing cabin that offers electricity, propane heat, ceiling fan, covered porch and raised fire pit.

The property is as natural as natural can get. . . Groomed trails lead down from the meadows, through hardwood and evergreen forests (consisting of beautiful wooded valleys with four flowing streams) to and through beautiful cedar swamps.

The Pond-Side Finished Fishing Cabin makes for an excellent hangout for tubing, catch and release fishing, etc.

Please note, hunting is not permitted on the property.

It was more than I could have imagined. Such a peaceful place to stay with our two teenagers. We loved feeding the fish and walking the grounds. Quick to town and tubing 10 minutes away. It was sad to leave! The hot tub was amazing as well looking at the stars and full moon

Couldn’t ask for a more peaceful stay. It was a home away from home. The property is beautiful and very well taken care of. The farmhouse is adorable and had everything we needed and then some-even homemade brownies and a snack basket waiting for us when we got there. We enjoyed the hot tub and did lots of fishing. It’s the perfect place to spend time with your family! We are already talking about going back!

Family fun!

I have been to this property before with some friends and I wanted to share it with my family. The kids absolutely loved the pond in the house and my boyfriend, and I loved being down by the water fishing. It’s very quiet and a very lovely home. Thank you so much to the host for her hospitality every time.

Another memorable stay at the Farm

Once again we had another wonderful stay at the farm. Michelle was a very attentive host as always, and she even left us a goodie basket and muffins ! I think this is probably the most special place on Vrbo. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon.

Great place on a gorgeous property. Do as much or as little as you want to do, both on and off the property. Or just relax in the hot tub and watch the wild life. Will come back again next summer!

Northwoods with the conveniences home

Fantastic stay in Hemingway country. We wandered around some secret spots on fabled northern streams and then settled into the farmhouse to focus on the Ausable River. We saw a mating pair of Pileated Woodpeckers most days along with a host if song birds. The house was perfect and we will be back again!

AuSable relaxation

We arrived at the home and saw wild turkeys walking across the property, set among the prettiest fall colors and a pristine setting. We entered the home and found freshly baked brownies and a welcome basket. A very relaxing stay. We flyfished the AuSable and hiked. Many outdoor activities in close proximity.

Pure Michigan!

We enjoyed a few days of spring break “staycation” at the farmhouse. Every detail has been thought of by the host. Clean & Cozy is an understatement. It is a truly picturesque location with an abundance of wildlife; soooo many deer, turkeys and birds. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while watching the deer grazing out by the barn. We hope to return in the summer months to enjoy the pond. Thank you for a great stay!

Amazing place!

We were totally overwhelmed. It’s a cute house, clean and everything you can wish for. The property is very large and full of wildlife. The cupcakes were very yummy and such a nice warm welcome. They thought about everything their guests may possibly need. A 10 out of a 0 to 10 rating. Thank you so much for everything!

Cozy house, quiet location

Great getaway property! The house and property are exactly as desribed in the listing, which sometimes is not the case. When we arrived, Michelle had snacks waiting for us, which we appreciated after a long drive up. We were up birding, so we were pretty excited to see some interesting birds at the feeder outside the house. Super clean, cozy, and relaxing. Kitchen had everything we needed to make some nice dinners at the end of our day. Will definitely stay again!

Dream Weekend

This has by far been our favorite place to stay in MI + we’ve been all over. The property is literally one of a kind. The special touches the owners provide are like none other. You wouldn’t have to leave the property at all, there are so many things to keep you occupied. Loved watching all the wildlife, neither of us have seen so many woodpeckers and so up close at that! Thank you very much for allowing us to stay, we cannot wait to come back.

Perfect

Couldn’t ask for anything more. Walked in to find a welcome basket and brownies. The place was very clean which is very important to us. It had everything you could ever need. The property was beautiful. It’s close to atv trails. Close to Amish shopping which we love. I just loved that it was very peaceful and secluded. We are very familiar with this area being my parents had a cabin on the next street for 30 years.

Great time was had by all!

Our family loves spending time together in this place. Just walking in feels like coming home again. Along with the ATV activities, we were able to enjoy the property pond this visit, and my non fishermen peeps, became fans. Was nice walking the property trails every morning, enjoying the wild flowers, wild life, and the quiet. A great place to unwind! We were also able to enjoy other local outdoor activities, as the access to the river is not too far away. Also the farmers market, flea market, and Amish bakery are very close by. Michelle was a very gracious host.

Immaculate condition inside and out...you won't regret it

We decided to travel to northern Michigan to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving and see the fall colors. We were thoroughly impressed with the entire property. Customer service was impeccable as well. Tina, the owner, responded very quickly to our emails and the property manager even called to check in and make sure everything was to our liking. Everything was so well organized, labelled and so impeccably clean! The check-in, check-out was very well detailed and not a problem. They are even quick to give back your refund! The kitchen appliances appear new. They even have a crockpot on hand that wasn't listed as part of the amenities. They have plenty of facecloths and towels and in the kitchen a very good assortment of spices. They are very safety conscious and have an emergency kit, flashlight, fire extinguisher, smoke alarm, hose, escape ladder, etc. as well as emergency numbers well displayed. The paddleboat was a favorite of the kids and they have fish food available. Husband loved the fishing cabin and wife enjoyed walking the trails and watching wildlife. Everyone enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. We were very comfortable in terms of enough heat at this time of year. There are two TVs and some board games and cards to wind down. Don't forget to take a canoe or kayak trip on the AuSable river this time a year. It was a wonderful experience. The owners also have all kinds of pamphlets available to browse through about what to do and where to eat in the area. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their lovely home and to the managers for doing such a fantastic job!

My New Happy Place

Best vacation ever! The perfect end to summer...We stayed over the Labor Day holiday. The house and property are both beautiful. From the homemade brownies and welcome basket, to the fall pumpkins awaiting our arrival, I couldn't have asked for more. If I could give this more stars I would. :) The house itself was perfect. It was cozy and warm, with blankets and pillows and everything you could imagine. Every time we thought "hey, I wonder if they have..." we'd turn around and it was there! From outside games like horseshoes and cornhole, to indoor board games, this property had it all. My son even has a newfound love for tetherball! The Kitchen...perfect. It was fully stocked with everything we could have wanted or needed. Just a quick run to the grocery store in town and we were set. Family breakfasts and dinners were a breeze, and cookouts on the grill went perfectly. Every morning we had coffee on the porch while we watched the birds at the feeders. Two big woodpeckers and beautiful hummingbirds (my favorite) were only a couple feet away from us. If we sat still, chipmunks would literally run around our feet. Amazing. S'mores around the campfire at night while playing guitar - yup...we did that too!! We fished at the pond and threw fish food so we could watch them jump. The kids loved it. In the very early morning (before the rest of the family woke) the deer could be seen on the very edge of the property. It was truly peaceful. Size-wise, the house is a good fit for a family of 4 or 5. I would happily come back with friends or family with a tent in the yard. :) The property itself is SO beautiful and the kitchen is perfect for larger gatherings. Plenty of room to cook a big meal. I would LOVE to share this place with family and friends and I can't wait to return. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
