About this property
Scout's Rest in Cody - Beautiful Cozy Log Cabin that sleeps 8!
Enjoy a cozy getaway this winter with flannel sheets and curling up by the fireplace!
A beautiful, cozy log cabin on a quiet street 1/2 block from the heart of downtown Cody, Buffalo Bill's hometown. Movie theater, restaurants, nightly gunfight during summer evenings, and only 4 blocks from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West (five museums in one huge building, a Smithsonian Museum not to be missed).
Only 13 miles from the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center where 11,000 Japanese Americans were interred after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Rodeo Capitol of the West with a nightly rodeo every night June 1- Sept. 1. Rafting, Old Trail Town Town's Historic Buildings, ancient Teepee Rings and much more.
Spring/Summer Activities Include: Zip-lining, river rafting, Old Trail Town, Yellowstone (52 miles from the east entrance of the Park), Scenic drive/Chief Joseph Highway, Nightly Rodeo June-August, fly fishing, hiking, downtown shopping, mini put-put golfing, 18 hole golf course, paddle boarding, amazing bike trails, and much more.
Winter Activities Include: Sleeping Giant Ski Area located only 1 hour away, Ice Climbing, snowmobiling, Ice Arena, Recreational Center with Olympic size pool, Buffalo Bill Museum, snow shoeing, hunting, wildlife - too much to list. All Year Round Activities Include: Old Trail Town, Recreational Center with Olympic size pool, with a water slide and many amenities for the little ones. Sip and paint, Wine Bar, a wide variety of wonderful restaurants including: Thai, Sushi, Italian, Irish Pub, Breweries, Pizza, Mexican, and much more.
Enjoy a couple days, week, month or longer in a charming nearly 100 year old completely restored, beautifully appointed log house. Fireplace has been converted to gas, is remote controlled - a cozy spot to read and relax with friends or family. Relax on the wide front porch with southern exposure. A fenced back yard with patio and barbecue grill. Off street parking next to house with more parking in back.
Main floor has two bedrooms, one queen-bed room and other room offers two singles with bathroom in between. A wide stairway leads downstairs which has one bedroom with a queen size bed, second bedroom has two singles, hall bath and laundry room.
House sleeps 8 with double occupancy in each room. Air conditioning unit was installed June 2016.
**Pets are allowed but reservations will be charged a flat $50 additional cleaning fee to assist with cleaning**
The new fully equipped kitchen has dishwasher, gas stove, refrigerator and disposal. A computer room is off the kitchen, Window looks onto the back yard. Early risers can have their breakfast at the counter. The drop leaf table in dining area can seat 8.
The house was built in 1927 for Kid Wilson, an interesting Cody character. In 1946 he sold to Breck Moran, editor of the Cody Enterprise our local newspaper. Breck was an Ivy League educated man who dug out the basement to add the two bedrooms and bath and laundry as his family grew. Nick Patrick, a local native, added much to the charm of the house before it returned to the Moran family. It was purchased by Ann Simpson from Betsy Moran Sartou in April of 2015. It has been lovingly restored, with a new roof, plumbing, electrical , lawn sprinkler system and is in beautiful condition.
House to be cleaned and sheets will be changed if stay is longer than 1 week, along with 24/7 guest service.
Guest have access to entire house, fenced back yard, patio space with grill and patio seating, and driveway.
Property manager will be available 24/7 with any services requested as well as assistance and information regarding Cody and surrounding areas.
