This cabin was amazing! My boyfriend and I really needed to get away and just disconnect, this place was exactly what we were looking for. We arrived at night so waking up and seeing the beautiful views was breathtaking. We went to several markets, really liked Ogdens, and to Panther Falls and the James River Footbridge near the AT. Janis was very communicative and made it feel like home. We appreciate you letting us experience the beauty and peace of your home!
Went here for our anniversary. The property owners thought of everything for a cabin rental stay. I would recommend this cabin to others and stay here again in a heartbeat. Very secluded and quite. The scenery was awesome and it brings you into nature.

Beautiful mountain retreat. A perfect place to escape.
This cabin was everything we had hoped for and more. It was the perfect weekend escape for two people with hectic lives. It provided the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy nature, and spend quality time together. We hiked, cooked, and soaked in the hot tub in front of the most picturesque backdrop imaginable. We absolutely loved reading and drinking coffee on the porch and playing board games inside. The cabin was even more comfortable than expected-- I got some of the best sleep I have had in years. The hosts are easy to communicate with and incredibly welcoming. We felt right at home. The cabin is out of the way enough that you can truly feel alone, while still being close enough for fun day trips like hiking or the Devil's Backbone brewery. All in all, an amazing find. We can't wait to go back.
It was clean and tide, and everything is carefully and thoughtfully organized and arranged in details. The owner of the cabin was very kind for providing directions, how the cabin were cleaned and prepared for us, and a list of places to visit. Especially, the inside and outside settings of the cabin were great, and my wife really liked it so much. Whole family give five stars.
This was the third year staying at Janis' beautiful Amherst cabin. She and her family are wonderful, attentive hosts and the cabin is gorgeous down to every detail. The hot tub is in the woods so you can watch the sky and forest while soaking. We always do the Cole/Cold Mountain hike which has a stretch in the woods, and a stretch through the high mountain meadow which is amazing in fall and winter. There are a number of trails 15-25 minutes up the road to the trailhead. Highly recommend!
This is the best getaway! We enjoyed every minute of our stay! It's not too far from town and beautifully tucked away in the mountains. We WILL be back! Everything was clean, organized and inviting. Janis was great at keeping in touch when we needed her. Thank you so much!!
This place has everything you need to have a peaceful and relaxing trip. From a wood burning fire place to a hot tub. We were far enough away from the surrounding cities to see the stars, but close enough to take a drive to go have dinner one of the nights. Janis was extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions we had.
My husband and I wanted to escape for a quick birthday celebration. The log cabin provided the perfect setting for relaxing and rejuvenating in the hot tub.
The cabin is clean, cozy and comfortable. The location is very private and offers a gorgeous view of the mountains. The owners thought of everything to make this a perfect getaway. You won't be dissapointed!
A very good experience for our 10 year anniversary rental. Not too remote, but removed enough from the city that time seems to slow down to enjoy the area! The only thing that could be improved is having some non-down feather options for pillows/blankets.
This cabin is tucked away and beautifully situated with mountain views. The driveway is steep, so gear down at the bottom! We enjoyed an afternoon visit to the quaint town of Amherst, but spent most of our time at the cabin. It is immaculately clean and well-stocked thanks to the wonderful hosts!
This cabin is a quiet oasis, it was a perfect getaway for my husband and I. The cabin is clean and inviting, the hot tub is clean and was a wonderful treat. Janis really goes above and beyond. I let her know I had a sensitivity to scents and she removed the air fresheners for me and looked around to see what else she could do. So many little touches, she sent a list of possible activities ahead of time, She left a handwritten note. She has firewood and charcoal and even olive oil we forgot to bring.
Quick travel tip: There is no dishwasher, so we ran out to get paper plates. There are plenty of dishes and dish soap, I just don’t like washing dishes on vacation! Also we were glad we brought waterproof sandals/crocs as the hot tub is a short walk from the cabin, we we were glad to have waterproof shoes.
From start to finish this was a breeze. Communication and support was clear and useful. The house and setting itself was beautiful, perfect to disconnect from the daily grind. (We did have cell reception at the house but weren’t expecting it).
The cabin was amazing, very clean, decorated amazingly well. View was perfect, property was far enough away from civilization to be extremely peaceful, but not too far if you needed something. Plenty of antique stores and wineries nearby. It was the perfect place to get away and recharge. Hosts could not have been nicer and more helpful.
This charming cabin made a perfect get-away for our 15th anniversary. The cabin was well-appointed with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The style was rustic yet comfortable with modern provisions. Located in a secluded clearing in the woods with a view of the mountains, this cabin provided a peaceful place to relax and de-stress. The hosts were gracious and communicative making sure our needs were met.
This is a slice of heaven! Very quiet, peaceful, and private. Super friendly and welcoming owner. Beautiful view ... not another building in site. It really feels like you are the only people on the planet. Just what we needed. We hope to return soon. Highly recommend!!
I honestly mistakenly booked this cabin and just rolled with it and I am so happy I did! My boyfriend and I had a great time and it was really great having absolutely no service or WiFi and just spending time together. The hot tub has officially convinced him that he needs to take my wanting one into consideration too, bonus!
