Why Barbara/Homeowner chose Ocean Sands
Corolla has one of the widest beaches along the Outer Banks. Dogs are also allowed on the beaches all year round regardless of the season or time of day. The dunes are being built up to help preserve the beaches in this area which is resulting in less views of the ocean but for good reason. Corolla is a very quiet area of the OBX but still close to many restaurants, food stores, shopping and leisure activities. Corolla also offers a free public park (The Whalehead Club) with access to piers and is a great place for crabbing with the family. The lake that's located one block behind the house is a beautiful and tranquil place to walk to and even fish with the family. There is a lot of wildlife like turtles and catfish to feed to keep the kids occupied. I'm very excited about the walking paths Ocean Sands North has just added on Route 12 through the town. It has an appeal and look similar to the town of Duck.
What makes this House unique
My house is very close to the beach on a quiet road with absolutely no busy roads to cross like other houses. This will allow no worries for you in regards to your kids who are old enough to walk back to the house by themselves. Also a great neighborhood to walk your dog and take the family along to explore the nearby lake with its trails and wildlife. Don't forget the cheese doodles to feed the friendly turtles in the lake! They will actually swim up to the shore when they see you or hear you for their daily snack. Many recreation items provided at the house both outside and inside for rainy days. Chess, checkers, board games, puzzles, battleship, video arcade game with 60 games including Ms. Pacman & Space Invaders (in 2020'), foosball, videos, Netflix movies, basketball, corn hole and horseshoes to name a few.

Enjoyed Bernie's Bungalow.
We had a good time and the house was wonderful, no problems. Liked that it was close to beach access.
Overall the property was well described. Location to community (not public) beach access was 1 subdivision block from house and the 4x4 beach access was about 10 miles from subdivision entrance. Pool is small but good for two people. Not sure a bunch of kids and floats are fitting. Deck furniture could be upgraded. Bar top table and chairs in screened in porch were wobbly. Owner was nice and easy to communicate with. Reality is the house was comfortable and clean. Would book again as the small details I mentioned are not enough to take away from the experience.
What the dr. Ordered
We had a very restful vacation at Bernie’s. Just what our family needed. The house was nice, roomy for all 9 of us. Loved the large farmhouse table because we could all eat together and play games on it. The kitchen was well appointed but make sure you bring everything you need to cook even salt and pepper. But if you forget something Food Lion is close by. The beach is super close but can’t be seen from the house. Views from the decks are just the other houses.
The house is in a neighborhood so kinda like being in a fishbowl when sitting on the deck or in the pool because houses are close together. The house has great decks and a small screened porch, perfect for early morning coffee and reading.
Overall the house was perfect for what we needed and OBX is a great place for a restful relaxing vacation. I would rent here again.
Great for families, close to everything
Great stay at Bernie’s! Perfect location and short walk to the beach. Stayed here with a 6adults and 3 kids and dog. Everyone had a great time. Close to shops and restaurants and food lion grocery. Plenty of space, fully equipped, even outdoor games. Very clean and everything in working order. Definitely recommend!
Great location, lots of room in the house for everyone to spread out and relax. Decks were wonderful. Any concerns were addressed quickly by owner and realty. Loved the pool and hot tub. Convenient to beach.
House was perfectly located and cozy!!
This home had everthing we needed. Plenty of space for everyone. All the kitchen supplies were surprisingly enough. We even made tamales in the big steamer pot. Pool toys for kiddos were plenty. Couldn't get the little ones out of the hot tub and pool. Close to the beach. Large eating space and beautiful surrounding decks. If i had to make one critic it would be the yard. The grassy area surrounding the bbq pit/hammock could of been trimmed back so we could play corn hole without the high, itchy grass. But, we will definitely be back!!
House is 450 feet onto beach w/ direct beach access. There are 5 short houses between you and the ocean. 30 second walk from door step to boardwalk at end of Mainsail Arch beach! Ocean views and sunrises from back, front & side decks and enclosed outside porch. Close (less than one mile) to shopping centers, restaurants, bagel/deli, pizza, ice cream, golf, mini golf, go carts, movie theater, sound side activities. Nearby to wild horse tours in 4-wheel drive country. 1 block in front of lake/pond to take walks to feed friendly turtles and fish!
Other Activities: There is plenty of shopping and casual and fine dining in the area. Wooded walkway at end of street that leads directly onto the beach. Jet ski and kayak rentals nearby. Currituck Beach Lighthouse and 4-wheel drive country to see wild horses on beach are a short drive away.
Golf: The Currituck Club course on 620 Currituck Clubhouse Drive in Corolla is an 18 hole course within one mile of house.
