About Jean Clayton
I’m semi retired, a linguist with strong interests in ecology, land restoration and sustainable architecture who found the dream location and built a home I love with help from some experts in sustainability. I love living off the grid and have been able to prove that you don’t have to be rustic or basic in your lifestyle for this to be successful.
Jean Clayton purchased this Bed And Breakfast in 2012
Why Jean Clayton chose Scott Creek
If you just stand on the front deck and look out over the valley and the wide skies you will immediately understand why I bought this rural property without a second thought about where else I could live. A beautiful home with all services was developed over two years on a pristine rocky hillside where CloudsNest seemed a perfect name for what living here is like.

Terrain here is very steep and rocky; unfenced dam

Relax and rewind
I booked a night for my parents at this property and they absolutely loved it! It exceeded their expectations and they couldn’t believe how beautiful and peaceful it was. Jean was so hospitable and so easy to organise the experience for them through. Thank you to her for providing them with a fantastic experience for their christmas gift!
Excellent hills retreat
My partner and I had a beautiful night in the hills. Jean was a fantastic host, and went above and beyond to make sure we were both comfortable. We both really appreciated that she could also cater for our dietary requirements. Highlights include: breathtaking views of the hills, groups of kangaroos roaming the area, access to walking trails, delicious food cooked by Jean & a great big comfortable bed! We hope to return :)
Fantastic Vista; Fantastic experience
Hospitality of excellent standard. Property also of excellent standard. Extremely comfortable. Happy to recommend to anyone that wants/needs a stay in a beautiful location within half an hour of Adelaide CBD. Nice drive through to wine regions of the Adelaide hills or Mclaren Vale.
Everything I needed
Brilliant place and experience, absolutely wonderful host. Relaxing, refreshing and a great place to stroll, chill and watch roos bounding around the property. Highly recommend
Paradise in the bush
Paradise in the bush. Excellent location of property not far from the city and easy access to motorway. Nowhere was far away the sea, the bush, the wine lands. Property owner Jean was tremendous. Gave us plenty of tips and ideas of what to do and see. The property was abundant with wildlife and the views spectacular. Jean produced an outstanding cheese platter every night and the breakfast was more than adequate. Accommodation was comfortable and well appointed. Thank you Jean for making our stay so memorable.
Thank you so much for choosing CloudsNest; I really enjoyed having your company. It was a joy to see your enthusiasm for hills life and hear your daily news after your “magic mystery tours” around the valleys and villages. You are certainly welcome back here any time! You were most amiable, courteous and interesting guests as well as totally trouble-free.
The owner communicated well leading up to the stay avg have good instruction and directions. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning or fans available, and we were Todd to turn down or music by hah at 5pm
I’m really sorry that you didnt work out how to turn on the bedroom ceiling fans as they were certainly working well — the lounge fan failed too close to your stay to fix in time. The underfloor cooling should have provided some relief from the heat, but it was unfortunately extremely and unseasonably hot on the days you stayed. And yes, the music was simply too loud and booming bass, and this needs to be taken into consideration when you are sharing someone’s home, Maybe a totally self-contained holiday house is a better choice for you? This is advertised as a peaceful rural retreat rather than a party house and this is why so many people choose to come here.
This is a quiet farming community but with all the urban facilities and services you might require within easy reach. Your host provides a local services directory.
