It has a fully equipped kitchen with a stovette ( which has a small oven and two hotplates), microwave and fridge. Please note there is no freezer section in the fridge. The bathroom has a shower over a hip bath. A small TV and DVDs make for a relaxing stay. Complimentary tea, coffee and milk and toiletries are included. A maximum of four people can stay at the cottage in a queen and two single beds. Your hosts live on the property in a separate house. Come and see the sheep plus our adorable toy poodle Basil. We can guarantee you will have a peaceful nights sleep. Please note the following at the cottage: 1. It was hand built by an early settler and the foundations are large stones. The floor is uneven in the bathroom. 2. Some of the doors frames are very low and could be an issue if you are tall. 3. There is a possum (s) that live in the roof. We can't remove him/her/them as the roof space access will only fit a 3 year old child through it. You may hear him moving about occasionally! 4. There is no wifi to the cottage but there is good mobile phone coverage. 5. There are no ghosts in the cottage!

Loved this little period cottage which suited our needs perfectly - overnight accommodation for a cycling getaway. Its rustic, and a bit out of town, so reign in your expectations, but has all the necessary comforts for a short stay. Our hosts were very helpful, although we didn't get to meet them in person.
The place was adorable ..! My husband and I loved staying there . The owner was easy to communicate with . I have told so many people about our stay..!
A quaint little cottage (circa 1870s) in beautiful Gisborne. Very comfortable, and authentically olde world accommodation.
Would happily stay there again.
Loved the house, very cozy weekend away relaxing in front of the fire. House was great and kids loved the old style fittings and had plenty of room outside to play and enjoy.
I spent five enjoyable days here and liked the feel of stepping back in time. The hosts were very polite and easy to communicate with and left me to myself.
Lovely old cottage, with so much character! We met with Carlos and Basil who was a highlight with our little ones.Only disappointment was it not having animals the children could interact with (sheep and alpacas were in distant paddocks).
We just needed a warm place to sleep while visiting family in the area. I’m sure it’s just great place to stay in Summer Spring and Autumn. But we found it a bit cold, needing to have the fire and heat pump going and just getting warm enough. The house is sweet, pretty original, with undulating floor….with very basic but adequate bathroom and kitchen. Very thankful for the fire and plenty of firewood.

Hi Anna thankyou for taking the time to write a review. I was surprised you found the cottage cold however. I wonder if you didn't keep the fire going whilst you were out each day as that woodheater gives off an enormous amount of heat. Also overnight stock heater up and push the handle in. I think I will wrote up some instructions instructing people how to use the woidheatet for those that are not used to them. Hope you enjoyed your holiday. Many thanks
We greatly enjoyed our stay and would love to return some time. The cottage has great charm and historical interest, as well as being comfortable and well equipped. The countryside and the animals and birds add to the beauty of the place. It is very well situated and ideal for visiting Woodend and other nearby towns. Catherine is an excellent host and responded swiftly to any enquiries that we had.
We found this little cottage cosy and comfortable and was close to shops. This 1850 home is decorated with detail to suit the period, and it felt like we'd stepped back in time. With the low price and tranquil area, the cottage was a great choice for our stay.
Oh, the peace and quiet of the country! What a peaceful and relaxing location, only minutes from town!
There was a lovely fire lit for our arrival, the beds were comfortable and the alpacas adorable!
Amazing property. Well preserved and maintained in old style. Feels like living in 1800s.
Hope property like this survive for many more years to come.

Thanks so much Mustafa for your lovely review. Regards Catherine and Carlos.
Just what we needed after a busy few weeks. Quiet, and beautifully furnished and decorated in the style of ‘yesteryear’. Ideal for reading, sleeping, chatting, board games and just taking ‘time out’.Beautiful location surrounded by pasture land, the occasional kangaroo in the distance and easy access to places in the region. We recommend the Three Little Pigs in Gisborne for brunch.(PS A new wooden spoon for the kitchen might be a good idea).

Hi Janet. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I was very surprised however to read that you felt there was nothing to do at the property or surrounds. We are on 28 acres with sheep and alpacas. There is a book in the cottage which details activities around the area such as Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon open gardens and summit, quaint villages such as Woodend and Maldon, wineries galore, bush walking, markets etc etc. Im not sure how you expected to be entertained but its very disappointing to get a review like yours which is just not true.
