Perfect place to stay
We booked here so we had a comfortable place to stay while I took my father to the Bathurst 1000 (his bucket list dream for his 80th) - and while it was an hour away from the car racing, this beautiful cottage was the perfect way to relax. We loved everything - the welcome card and local wine, great books and magazines to read, the firepit, comfy beds, breakfast foods and kitchen goods, birdlife, kangaroos. Highly recommend this as a place to stay in a part of the world I hadn't known about. Great communication with owners and can't wait to go back.

Relaxing getaway
The property was just what we had expected from the listing. It was cosy, very comfortable, with everything we could have needed. The property was beautiful and tranquil, with lots of birds, and kangaroos. Casey and Cara were quick to respond to communication and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Hidden hideaway
We stayed at The Guesthouse for three days and two nights were delighted with how well equipped and beautiful this property was. Hidden amongst the native bush land and animals our girls enjoyed the property both inside and out and so did we. A true weekend away where we could all unwind and relax and not worry about missing out on anything or wishing we had brought something (it was all provided!). We will be recommending this place to our friends and family and hopefully we’ll be back too!

About the host

Hosted by Cara George

Host profile image
Your hosts, Casey and Cara live locally in Hill End and are passionate about others enjoying their heritage town as much as they do. Casey is 4th generation Hill End and the two found love when Cara came to town searching for her family history from the gold rush era (at the pub!). Two years later, Cara decided to take the tree change from her busy lifestyle in the big smoke in Sydney to live in Hill End. Now, Casey and Cara enjoy their relaxed country lifestyle and are kept busy with their cheeky identical twin boys.

Why they chose this property

Take your morning coffee to the front verandah, pull up a seat and breathe in the fresh country air. Observe the friendly locals – you’ll find an abundance of birdlife and curious roos regularly exploring your temporary backyard.

Adorning the walls of The Guesthouse are works by internationally renowned artists who live and work in Hill End, a town that is a magnet for creative minds.

You’ll enjoy all the creature comforts here, it’s ready for you to enjoy year round with a combustion fireplace and reverse cycle air conditioning.

Why not stop in at nearby Mudgee, made famous for its impressive food + wine scene, just 70 km ‘down the road’ to sample and select locally grown produce to bring home to The Guesthouse. Pour a glass or two from a Mudgee winery and prepare delicious produce with your loved one, friends or family in the well equipped kitchen or cook outside on the BBQ.

Other conveniences include free WiFi, a large shed with undercover parking, laundry with washing machine and dryer, ironing facilities, TV, DVD player, radio CD player + bluetooth speaker, board games and an established orchard where guests are encouraged to pick and eat in season.
