About this property
Forrest Beach Getaway - family holiday haven
This recently fully renovated holiday home has 5 large bedrooms - 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs: 2 bathrooms - 1 up and 1 down: large living room and kitchen and laundry with washing machine and dryer. The house is fully air-conditioned with fans as well or just enjoy the beautiful sea breezes through the fly-screened windows. Plenty of parking space and a large yard for the children to enjoy. The house is approximately 500 meters from the beach front. The home is suitable for a large family or a group of families wanting to enjoy the beautiful beaches, great fishing and closeness to the Fantome, Pelorus, Palm and Orpheus Islands just off the coast. There are 2 boat ramps from which to launch the boat to explore the great fishing opportunities or to cruise across to the islands and snorkel or dive the reefs surrounding the islands in beautiful clear waters or stop off at Yanks Jetty on Orpheus Island for a picnic and swim around viewing the fish and coral that live under the jetty. The house is approximately 20-25 minutes from Dungeness where there is great launching facilities and parking space. Launching at Dungeness gives you access to the Hinchinbrook Channel or the outer reefs for great fishing or visit Zoe Falls on Hinchinbrook Island and enjoy a cooling swim in the beautiful swimming hole at the bottom of the falls after tracking through tropical rain forest. If this isn't enough, you can enjoy long walks along the soft white sandy beach collecting shells and trinkets. Forrest Beach has a stinger net which is in position during the summer months and patrolled by Surf Lifesavers on weekends and during school holiday periods. There is a mini-mart, take-away food shop, hair-dresser, doctor and chemist, newsagency and hotel with a bottle shop. The Forrest Beach Hotel, which is on the beachfront, has an a-la-carte restaurant and is great spot to sit and enjoy a drink with family and friends with a cool breeze blowing or inside the air-conditioned bar. The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle bus service for its patrons and often has live music on weekends.

About the host
Hosted by Maureen Lahtinen

Maureen and and her husband Steve are your hosts. This house was our family home and it is still used for family gatherings as we have a large family. We live at the beach so we are close by should you have any problems during your visit. It pleases me to be able to provide this large holiday house for family gatherings as I know it can sometimes be difficult to find suitable accommodation but at the same time, I also welcome smaller numbers of guests who are looking for a place to escape and relax.
Why they chose this property
This house is very spacious and comfortable and provides everything one would need to get away without having to worry about what to pack - clothes and food is all you need to bring. The house is approximately 500m from the beach and provides boat ramps to give access for those wanting to fish on the Great Barrier Reef or around the islands in the Palms group just off the coastline. It is just a short trip to Dungeness where boaties can shoot across the Channel to Hinchinbrook Island for a day trip.
It is centrally located in the Hinchinbrook district and is a great spot to stay whilst checking out the attractions of the area including Wallaman Falls, Taylors Beach, Lucinda, Broadwater National Park, Paluma National park and falls and Crystal Creek swimming holes.
